Do we lose SAN points for summoning you?
It's the one where I blew up on some folks for posting an Abbot completion and bragging about exploiting. Then, after some heated words, I apologized and broke the flames. But I still think exploits are bad, mmmmkay?
It was around the time I left Caffeine and went over to NSR, however long ago that was.

Wow this thread has really gotten out of hand. Everyone here knows that the tile room is (for the most part) not being completed the way it was intended. Everyone here knows that most of you guys are doing it the "exploit" way. There is no point in arguing with this the raid was NOT designed to be completed in this fashion. And like I said I've been working hard with my guildies and even pugs that join my LFM to learn goggles the legit way. Freezing your client is weak and personally I think it's fun doing it legit.
ok, didn't read the whole the thread... stopped when the issue turned to powergaming.
there are two ways to do the tiles. the so called legit way, and the so called exploit. in this case, the exploit is using a feature of the operating system to manipulate the game, and as such, would qualify as an exploit and shouldn't be used. My system does not allow me to use this feature (my toon goes into a 30sec auto run that cannot be turned off, and does not respond to certain clicks, such as jumping). I have tried goggles 3 times, and survived it once.
There are 3 ways to do ice. 1) two toons with wands 2) cleric with DI 3) ninja spy monk with stride on water. All three methods are legitimate, as they use in-game abilities given to our toons. I have done all 3 methods, and do not consider any of them illegitimate
I know if one way to do roids, and have never failed it myself in about 20 runs or so.
point is, if I get a level 20 cleric in my raid, I'll use him for ice. if I get a ninja spy in my raid, I'll use him. there is nothing wrong with it. As for the tiles, since I am at 33% success rate, I can't complain. once I get better, I will advocate using the legitimate method.
If you feel that tiles should be solved legitimately, better bring a friend, and do it yourself. Or stick to guild runs...
What really kills me are the people who won't even give legit a chance..
Like when I opened it on normal rather than elite because I knew I could do goggles norm legit and certain people bailed.
I am a powergamer and zerger... I still enjoy puzzles. Especially well designed and FUN ones like you can find in the Ascension Chamber.

Or you could practice a little bit. I mean really, if you cant complete it without the cheese are you really completing it?
People complain about ddo store easy buttons, dungeon scaling, dumbing the game down, etc. Even some of the posters in this thread who advocate exploiting tiles (not you per say, maybe maybe not i dunno) but when it comes to their abbot completions, they are more than willing to use the dumbed down methods.

I am practicing. As I said, I don't consider DI or stride cheese - these are tools given to us by the devs. if they thought we should not be using them, they can easily change the behaviors of those abilities (DI is supposed to raise you like death pact by the description, and stride doesn't work in 90% of the places anyway)
However, until I can be reliable in a pug (a few more guild training runs), I am not in a position to complain. And unless you can do it, willing to do and teach it, and will stand up to it, please don't complain either. If you ARE in the position I stated above, then what's the point of complaining? you don't use exploits in your runs, so it shouldn't bother you.
as a side note - I still have no idea what is, or if there is, the exploit for roids. just out of curiosity, (I can duo it, don't need an exploit) if you want to pm me...
Oh god. If that wasn't a low point in my posting career, I don't know what was.
Still hilarious and telling, all at the same time.

I guess im of a different school then. If you cant complete a raid, you shouldnt complete. When you fail, you release and try it again. Eventually you will complete. Why does there have to be a, "well I'll exploit until im good at the correct way of doing it" clause?
If you can complete it without exploiting, great, gluck on your loot. If you cant then you dont deserve the loot.
