I miss my cleric. Clerics are more fun to play.

OK, lets have the FvS supporters in to beat me up.

At the moment my FvS is 15 and I'm finding her very 'meh' after playing a cleric. She's just no where near as fun.

I'm in necro and I'm just so missing that positive blast. I swear if those wings are not worth it she's becoming a mule to be brought out to heal shroud or sub quests only if everything is off timer.

And to think I started 3 of these things (helf with sorc dili, and an evasion splash one).


Has anyone else found this?

I have to agree with you Meli right now RS just brings so much to the cleric making The Battle Cleric a real possibility eventually they will release a FVS prestige though and clerics will be out to pasture once more.

I dont even use RS, and I prefer my Cleric to my FVS ( Whom is a TR from a Cleric and capped) Im on my Cleric's 4th and final life, she took 2 lives as a Wiz, and I should've gone 3 wiz lives but I missed her so much I just didn't want to wait any longer.

Well I enjoy them both. My FvS is fun especially with the wings but when I 2nd tr my cleric/caster to horc battlecleric hes going to be a monster. Forget bearshaman, think Hulkshaman. Cudgo Smash puny human, elf, dwarf, drow and warforged!! LoL

lol. my mentor speaks. haven't got mass csw yet - wanted insta death spell. (and i've stuffed up my feats and have to swap some around - arrrgh!). if i'm going to give FvS a go i need to give it a fair go...

My FvS does use her maxed, empowered, and superior potency powered mass cmw. I had a choice of adding mass csw with greater potency but Im really happy with the superior benefit to the cure mod with slightly less sp again and therefore I get a superior potency, maximised, empowered bb.

LoL I nearly made the mistake of rising to your challenge of saying a cleric is pretty meh with writing exactly what my build will be able to do but then i dont want to be blamed for a nerf. Phew.

What kind of FvS did you make?

If your idea of fun is being a Healbot, I agree a Cleric is more fun to play. I dont miss the Radaint blast or Aura on my FvS's at all. If I have undead aroundme I want to kill, I just beat it down.

Wings certainlly add to the experience as wee, but I prefer the Hit Points, Melee ability and Spell point pool.

I still play my clerics as well, just nor as often... Did have a great time int eh Mabar event on my cleric. thats for sure.

More hit points? arent both d8 based? Are you referring to the dr? thats a cap though. Doesnt really help while trying to level.

Better melee? Both have identical bab scales. Is this accomplished thru the enhancement lines? Bladesworn/sov host etc? From what ive seen, im not overly impressed with the classes melee ability. Its even with the cleric, so far anyways. I took Sov Host, so i guess I will be using long swords.

So, how is one class better than the other in HP and Melee?


I do have to say I love playing my cleric more than any other class i have (but then again. non eof the others are capped, so there is that major difference)

FVS get automatic feats and enhancements for their favored weapon, they also get 4 tiers of toughness enhancements.

I have 2 FVS, one of which is a TR from a cleric (pre Radiant Servant). If I had experience with Radiant Servant before I TR'd I might not have gone from clonk to fonk.

That said, and considering I've never had RS, there are only two things I've missed on my FVS that a cleric has:

1. Versatility of spells at spell level 6, it's the one spell level where I WANT MOAR !

2. Holy Aura on my 18/2 fonk

I've seen some great things done with radiant servant and I think it's a great addition for clerics, but more hp, more sp, and wings fit my preferred playstyle better.

AS mentioned, FvS have a TOughness Enh Line.

As far as melee, they get get a real proficency, no clickies, and extra to hit and Damage feats and Enhancments as well.

My FvS does beat down and use bbs i can guarantee you but she wil be a healbot come her cap.

As for the cleric I can achieve +6 damage from divine might that my fvs cant and the aura and burst means i have hp regeneration my fvs doesnt and the hp wont be much worse. Note however being a horc the FvS longsword or longbow proficiency I would get is a waste as I get another +4 damage and double damage from power attack +8 (+16)as a horc from using a two handed weapon.

All that extra damage adds up but I do see how as an horc FvS I could take two levels of fighter to get great weapons proficiency and extra feats so I would just miss out on +6* divine might damage. Taking those two levels of fighter would sacrifice the capstone though but i still get various other fvs benefits.

The other thing though is an increased flexibility of my cleric with a larger spell selection she can easily swap about and a greatly enhanced turn undead could be as much fun as just always beating on something.

I had considered warforged fvs to be pure fvs for capstone but its a no no as i lose out on two very useful combat feats and self healing would be a pain. Taking healers friend would use up 12 ap to be of any use so thats no encouragement. Also I really dont like WF aesthetically.

You left me in a quandary as it comes down to either two handed fighting horc cleric or fvs with two levels of fighter. FvS gets stacking resistances, better reflex saves, wings and more sp and extra toughness. Cleric gets more spells, +6 more damage*, powerful turn undead with double tr bonus straight off, always on radiant aura and radiant bursts.

*FvS get +2 damage with greatswords so with that adjustment the cleric extra damage is only +4 with greatswords.
