to give some context. This is my second RoSS that i have pulled. I tend to hit the undead chests alot more than offering of blood because of how my play time works out. I have pulled 4 bloodstones and 2 RoSS's so far. Thank you for all of your input; it was valuable to get a variety of opinions to help create a bigger picture.

More or less sound logic, but irrelevant.

To you, the RoSS is worth more because of the possibility of epicing it, and because of its perceived rarity from your own experience. Neither of these points are significant.

Your own experiences are not an indication of the items actual relative rarity. Even supposing the RoSS is far more rare than the spectrals, price is not dictated by rarity. The gloves are far more useful to a larger character-set than the ring, providing higher demand. And, of course, we all recognize that value is set by both supply and demand.

Uh, yeah, Kern, but the gloves are 1,000,000,000 times easier to pull. Which would kinda stockpile supply over demand for the item in question...you recognize what would happen to the value of gloves that everyone has two pairs of, right? Lucky for our jackpot winner here, he can trade his ross for spectrals + some tomes or cash AND keep a cobra in the barn for a rainy day.

Not only are the gloves easier to pull, except for epic-ifying them there are several other things that can accomplish the same. Not so w/ the RoSS.

Ring is worth more. If more mnemonic items get added, it may go down in value somewhat, but I doubt much.

    Actual Cannith person here.

Based on AH postings, the Spectrals generally get posted for 1.5-2mil, bloodstone for 750k-1mil, and SS ring for 600k-1mil.

Personally, i usually consider BS and SSring to be about same value (SS harder to farm, but BS in higher demand). The spectrals are easier to get than both, but people will pay obscene amounts for them for some reason.

Personally, I have 2 SSrings (traded for both), 3 bloodstones (pulled all 3) and 4, 5, or more Spectrals (i throw them on random banks and lose count, as i have far more than i need.

Capitalism and Free Enterprise in short boil down to: The free exchange of goods and\or services to the mutual benefit of two or more parties.

It seems that everyone lately wants to be the "winner" of trading rather than just being equally benefited in a trade. If both parties are getting what they want then it's a good trade. If you feel like you're getting ripped off then it's likely you are since you value the item more than the benefit you're getting. This will hurt you if you value the item more than people in the market to purchase it...

Do you now or will you ever have any use for an item that will feed you some quick spell points that you will never have to pay for? It's a rare pull and based on the comments here it's likely you may never pull another one or may have to pay a lot of platinum to get one.

On the same note the Gloves are not such a common drop otherwise the sale prices would be lower (of course as one person mentioned they are more universally desired which will keep the price high). Still it could take hours of farming and if it's a ransack-able chest (most likely is) then it could then take weeks\months to get the gloves.

So you could determine the value of any item to be: Rarity (i.e. difficulty of farming\obtaining it) + Usefulness (to you) + Convenience (i.e. I don't have to farm it). Additionally a direct trade for a near equivalent item that we desire eliminates the need for us to spend time in the trade channel and avoid AH fees which can also be factored in. Each person on here will probably find a different value for spectral gloves using this "formula" but it should be how we all determine what we will pay for items since it almost ensures that everyone will get the best deal out of each trade. What we sell items for should be the contrast of that equation and using good judgment to cover the upper end of the spectrum (so we get our fair amount of benefit) concerning how other people would answer.

So. In short if you don't have to directly match the values of an item since it's a matter of opinion as to the value of a particular item. Just cause the other guy isn't getting ripped off doesn't make it a bad trade in fact it's a better trade since he\she will be more likely to ease off of their greed.
