Question What do you think potions taste like?

    My guesses:

    Haste – Mountain Dew
    Rage – Steak
    Healing – Coke
    Mana – Gatorade
Silver Flame – Sour Milk (thus the drawback)

You know when you leave a sack of potatoes sitting for too long and they start to rot, and this sticky horrid black goo leaks thru the bag and sticks it to the ground?

That. If you've smelled it, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, there's no describing it.

Or maybe like that year-old meat fat stuff I saw Andrew eating on Bizarre Foods that one time.

    Corpse Plant juice.....

Take your pick. Potions were never meant to be enjoyable. You ever read some of the stuff that goes in to those things?!?

Health - like cough syrup - Cherry or Strawberry
    Haste - Sugary like Koolaid
Rage - Spicy like a Chai Tea
Mana - refreshing like a Lemon Iced Tea.
Fox's Cunning - fuzzy like pulpy Orange Juice
Owls Wisdom - Tickles your throat like carbonated water
Angels Tears - Sad, like flat soda.
Potion of Wonder - Like Mystery drink
Paralysis Removal - Tangy, like Mountain Dew
Blindness Removal - Water, clear water
Poison removal - Bitter like unsweetened, overbrewed tea
Bulls Strength - Coffee, Black. It's put hair on your chest!
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

    Haste pots - Caffeine
    The rest - Drugs

I want to say that rage potions have no magical effect whatsoever. They just taste so bad, you want to take it out on anything in the area.

There are actually rules for this in 3.5.

Cure pots taste like spearmint, for instance.

Ah. So they got soft even on potion flavors in the later editions, eh?

according to d20, a potion of cure moderate wounds tastes like almonds.

For some reason I have visions of an alternative universe in which magic is real and they have Iron Chef: Potions.

Think I had some bad Italian sausage at lunch......
