Default limited tp, Necro IV vs. Restless Isles

Right, i have like 1250 tp, and i am trying to decide between Necro IV and the Restless Isles

I have a lv 5 Ranger (going for ac build), and a capped wizard.

Necro IV has Minos Legens and a good rating- 850 tp
Restless Isles has the Chattering Ring (which i consider more valuable), but i dont have any information on it besides it, it seems pretty cool-650 tp

Restless Isles is essentially 2 quests and a raid. Both are unfriendly to get to. The explorer area is weak.

Necro IV is taps in the explorer area and a place you can farm XP easily. There are a handful of good quests which aren't pains to get to and a pre-raid and a raid.

As rarely as folks run Abbot, Titan is even rarer.

    I'd go Necro4.

I would second necro IV. Restless isles are run once for flagging for titan raid, and that raid is hardly run anymore, and when it is...usually by guilds or channels, rarely pugged. Yes many folks would like the chattering ring, but it is a super grind to get one unless you have the luck of the Irish. Aside from when it first came out, I dont think I have ever seen someone run anything in the explorer area.

Necro IV has a huge explorer area that is a gold mine for you if you need to make money farming tapestries, great xp, and several quests leading up to a raid that are run regularly both publicly and privately. Until you craft a helm or perhaps get a named one like the epic red dragon helm, the minos legens helm is pretty much standard gear for every class.

As for what the restless isles is about, I never really got into the story line so can't help you there.

    Definitely Necro IV.

Barely anyone ever runs the raid for Restless Isles and the quests inside are horrible to do. Not to mention the ease in getting lost inside.
In case you didn't already notice, my posts that end with must NEVER EVER, under any circumstances, be taken seriously.

I don't have either pack, here's my thoughts on them when I was in the level range.

Restless Isles: Im already up to my ears in island, stupid Ataraxia island!

Necro IV: Why didn't I buy this when I had the chance? There's like a billion parties in the LFM doing Necro IV stuff, and I'm stuck killing scrags freeking Ataraxia! Tempest Dwarf needs Necro IV badly! Insert TP(s) to continue!

As long as you don't mind lots of undead, go for Necro IV. More quests, and lots of slayers can be done in the explorer area if you have a caster or cleric.

Restless Isles storyline does involve the quori, but only in part. You're better off looking at the Inspired Quarter for anything significant involving them. The Restless Isles's raid, the Twilight Forge, is pretty unique, but unfortunately is rarely run these days compared to other raids. With Necro, you'll have your helm within days of playing, while getting that chattering ring may take you months.

The only downsides to Necro IV is that it's a pretty depressing (in style) area, many of the monsters are undead, and the raid flagging can be a right pain in the butt.

    Definitely Necro,

    1) I'd discount the raids as they're not new player friendly.

    2) Better explorer area for Necro.

    3) Better quests for Necro.

    4) Minos helm!

That's it right there. I love the forge, it's my favorite raid because of the interesting mechanics (and the pre-raid quest is pretty spiffy too)...and I'd still say get Necro IV, as you'll get more use out of it.

As bad as Necro 2 and 3 suck - Necro 4 is good.

    Necro IV for sure.

Piling on, Necro IV. Significantly more content in Necro IV.

RI has some pluses to not forget though...
    - Royal Guard Mask
    - Ring of the Ancestors

+ Both the flagging quests are... interesting. They are long and have difficulties of various sorts, but have a different feel from much of the other stuff in the game.

Necro IV is an awesome area though. What they did *really* well in there is mixing monsters. In most dungeons there are different things that need to be done to be successful. You can't just firewall everything or blade barrier everything and expect to have an easy time. Additionally, I *love* the explorer area. Of all of the explorers, the Orchard is my favorite.

    Down sides to Necro IV...
    - flagging mechanic. Toughest one in the game that I can think of.
    - You will hate one of the quests. Which one varies, but almost everyone *hates* one of them... (usually Inferno)
    - Other than the helms the other optional collectible gear is incredibly grindy. Think Dragon Scale armor and then times 3.

Ah! RI , I'm pretty much game for anything, and RI looks interesting, but I'm still trying to get there. Hiding in plain sight, I've made it to the dive once and died . I like difficulty but crud. This is just one of those quests and if this is a pre to what's to come I may need to rethink my strategy . I mean I really have no problem with orcs , trolls, ogers, gaints, minatars, undead, but these dwarfs in ataraxia and hide in plain sight, are stinking hard to kill and it's just not 2or3 it's a hord of them. I guess play style is an obvious, I do solo alot with a hire, it's definitely a different grind than with a group. More than 5or 8 , on solo I have to drag them out 3or4 at a time if I make a mistake and Argo the whole bunch I'm in serious trouble , unlike playing in most groups that just run in and kill. Any way Any thoughts on how to deal with these freakin dwarfs?

    Necro IV!

If you look at it strictly from a gear perspective, Necro IV has more named lewts. (including Shield/Tome/Tapestries, quest loot, Litany Loot, Abbot Raid Loot).

If you look at it from a quest perspective, Necro IV hosts more quests.

If you look at it from an XP perspective, Necro IV has *a lot* more XP, and its at a level that a TR would be more desperate for XP. Litany farming at level 18 banking 19? Awesome.

    Default Go Necro IV

As much as I love the Titan I'd have to go Necro IV, its without doubt the easiest way to get plat if you have a high level caster, taps sell for quite a lot and you'll pick up loads of vendor trash as well

If you wait for 25% off sale (you should) then you'll have enough TPs for both.

However I'd recommend AGAINST buying RI unless you own every other pack! You will rarely ever go there, and you will rarely run Titan without waiting 1-2 hours to get a big enough group to do it.

Necro IV is an excellent pack - must buy anyhow - so this is not a contest in comparisons.

More like x50. Shield and Tome collections make Dragonscales look placid in comparison. Just getting the shield fragments out of Ghosts (having to complete the optional) is a tangible nightmare of grey horror.

We won't even go into the 180 runs of Litany it took for me to scare up 2 Skivers (and I still ended up buying 5 pages, and trading for 2 more).
