Default advice: halloween robe or cloak

hi, I've just got two dragon scales and currently trying to decide between making a level 16 cloak or robe, I'm running a pale master build. What are peoples thoughts/suggestions? Preferably with an explanation.

    Thank you

    Robe is:
    necromancy focus
    Sup Nullification VI
    Major Void lore
    + 30 false life
    Nightsheild 3/day CL 14

Robe has many of its own virtues, but both of them have lots of overlap. I myself carry a superior potency VI in one hands and a necromancy focus in the other, negating some of abilities. Nightshield you can of course cast yourself. That leaves the spell crit and extra HP. I think both are decent, but it all depends on what items you have in the first place. Robe gives dodge bonus (bleh, who needs AC), Nightmare and invisibility guards (depends on how much you are getting hit, invisibility doesn't confuse monsters, and you get miss chance from displacement), and the 10% miss chance (dusk heart). It depends again on what items and spells you use in the first place, and whether you plan to be hit a lot.

It's actually a 20% miss chance... doesn't show Blur if you cast while wearing.

    That said...

If you were able to make the Epic Robe, I'd have chosen that. For level 16, if you've nothing better in your cloak spot, I'd go with the Cloak... although that takes up the Stormreaver's Napkin slot...

For a wizard, I probably would have taken the robe. The cloak has turned out to be rather handy for my cleric when he's soloing, though.

If you can get both, get both, you won't regret it...

Unfortunately, since the amount of time we have left for the vent is diminishing, I'd suggest you get the robe instead. That Boon of Undeath is... Nice.

    Thanks for the advice

With the time I had left and the gear I'm currently using (greater potency II sceptre and greater nullification VI dagger) I opted for the lvl 16 cloak.

Although I managed to wrangle another scale and the motes for the level 12 robe to replace my robe of invulnerability for when I level up next. Not having to choose between upgrading death aura/negative blast, potency or using wands is going to be handy when in an undead form.

    Default robes

I got both though Im not lvl 20 so i got the highest lvl robes i could and only the first upgrade on the cloak,
I was not sure if deathblock is the same as deathward spell but it makes you imune to your natual healing from neg energy spells, if your in lich form and you get a raid buff of deathward your imune to death aura healing affects.

I was using witching hour staff and dusk heart and necro bracers, the robes replaced all three with better stats.
BTW if you did not get the robes I highly recomend witching hour staff for any lich necro casters out there,

I normaly play with a friend who is also lich wiz, we both got the robes and lvl 2 cloak. The lich form x2 death aura is amazing and when you get into trouble a couple of neg energy bursts from each will heal for a ton!!

Im going with 18wiz 2rogue, I do like free spells like necro bolt touch and blast using health to cast and getting healed by the aura, I also went with insightful reflexes as im part rogue trap monkey at lvl 2 rogue ill get evasion I thought they would go well together.
All said and done i have 350hp 30 reflex and running with another lich similar build and gear we can run most anything without a healer and also have our skeliton pets and summon monster spells that got a great buffing in the patch. We also have augment summoning so our pets are beastly, the skeliton knight is a great tank and the mage can nuke with the best of em on boss fights. (though the archer is still lacking) Not to mention your death aura heals your pets too.
We usualy just do the bums rush aoe everything and rarely worry about dieing.
This has been a fun char to play even before the patch but now they are godlike and I love it. Cant wait for my last two lvls
