My DDO Launcher is freezing up when it gets to the "Game Update Progress / Status" screen.
Was running fine yesterday until about 8pm (EST) when I logged off. Any ideas??
Oh, Windows Vista - btw.

This error usually indicates a connection problem. Because there are many possible causes for connection issues, I'd recommend opening a support ticket using the link at the bottom of my signature so we can review your system information and narrow it down.

Thank you for your somewhat timely and useless response to my issue. I appreciate the fact that you responded, but am somewhat disappointed (alhough not really all that surprised) at both the length of time it took for a response and the lack of a possible solution.
I will submit a support ticket as you have suggested though. Hopefully it will not take the 1-3 BUSINESS days for a response or solution. Ah well who wanted to participate in the Mabar event anyways???

I wanted to take a moment to apologize for my sarcastic and venomous remarks, I do realize that "connection issues" can be difficult to troubleshoot. It is just disheartening that it took right at 24 hrs to solicit a response (although I am truely grateful for receiving one at all) and a lack of possible solutions, even educated guesses. I am not an IT person, but do have some limited knowledge to networking and troubleshooting connection issues. I have checked everything I can think of on my end (router, modem, firewall, etc) and have not yet found a solution to the problem on my own, that is why a subjected myself to the "Technical Support" forum.
My comments are not entirely directed at you, Thokal, but more expressions of my frustration in general. Thank you for doing your job by contacting me and being a representative for Turbine, I apologize that you happened to receive the focus of my aggitation at this point.Last edited by Anarkius; 10-29-2010 at 07:32 PM.

FIXED!!!!
I downloaded the game client again and "REPAIRED" my client since there seemed to be some files "missing" (still not sure how). But am able to log in and play now...
Back to DDO I go.
I believe in mind over matter. If I don't mind, it doesn't matter.

Hello,
i have the same problem
I postet it and got no answer this far.
It is since the last update.
Reinstall wouldnt help.
I run Win7 x 64 and all went fine before the Update.

I did get a response from the support ticket that I submitted, below you will find what Tech Support suggested I do...
"Thank you for contacting Turbine Technical Support. This issue may be caused if Internet Explorer is not connecting correctly or is unable to connect to the internet at all.
Internet Explorer does not need to be your default browser, but the game does share Internet Explorer’s system-wide connection settings so if it cannot connect normally then neither can the game.
Please open Internet Explorer and detail the following in your reply:
Are you able to browse to the page www.turbine.com and www.playspan.com in I.E.?
Under the File menu, is Work Offline checked?
Click on Tools > Internet Options > Connections (tab) > LAN Settings (button). Is “Use a proxy server” activated? (If yes detail what is listed there in your reply please)
If a proxy server is in use, does disabling it, clicking "Ok" twice and trying to load www.turbine.com now work? (If yes, try the game again as well)
If the issue persists after confirming the above please also follow the steps outlined below to submit some detailed system information for review:
Click on the Windows "Start" button and click "All Programs"
Under "All Programs" click "Accessories" > "System Tools" > "System Information"
When the "System Information" window opens click the "File" option and then choose "Save" from the menu (please see note below about saving*)
On the left side of the "Save as" dialog that opens click "Desktop"
In the "File Name" section type "msinfo" (no quotes) and press the "Enter" key or click the "Save" button.
Please "zip" (steps how detailed below**) and attach the generated zip file to your reply.
*Please be aware that there can be quite a large amount of text data contained in the msinfo file. When you begin to save the file please allow the system up to several moments to completely save this data to file, as it can sometimes appear to get "stuck" while saving. Otherwise the data file might be corrupted and cannot be opened.
**Also be aware that some email providers do not allow some files with certain extensions to be sent as attachments. Zipping the msinfo.nfo file created through the steps above can help prevent issues when mailing it. After saving it to "Desktop" select it by left-clicking on it, and then right-click the file and choose "Send to" > "Compressed (Zipped) Folder", then attach the generated ".zip" file instead.

Are you able to browse to the page www.turbine.com and www.playspan.com in I.E.?
I tried to browse to these pages with the I.E. and had no problems at all.
I am not using a proxy server.
I have done the msinfo file, wher do i send it?
i am from 3.11. to 20.11. on holidays and afk.
So please dont wonder if i am not answering after the 3.11., i will be back on 21.11. and answer or repot on.

I also am having the exact same problem. I have insured I have the proper proxy settings. I have windows firewall disabled. But I still added all the appropriate programs to the IE exceptions list.

A suggsted resolution to MY problem may not fix yours. There are a lot of factors involved when trying to resolve a connection / software issue. The variations in systems alone could prove a lot more important than "I checked my firewall and proxy settings". It could be a software conflict somewhere else.
I offered the resolution they (Tech Support) offered me, just as a suggestion of a "possible" remedy.If this did not resolve your issue(s), I would definately suggest submitting a "ticket" to Tech and try to have them assist you further - I am no IT guy. I hope you both make it back into game soon.
On a side note...my issue was not neccessarily an Update7 issue. After updating, my game was still working fine - this issue arose out of the blue. The only cause I can think of for MY issue was unistalling LOTRO (which I had installed to try the F2P atmosphere - not impressed btw) may have removed some of the "shared" information that both games contain. Again this is an psuedo-educated guess on my part. But that is the only thing that changed on my system.
