    Default Multiclass Paladin

I did some quick searching but did not find anything so I thought I would post a question about a build idea I have been tossing around.

I have a 12 Fighter/6 Paladin/2 Monk (Kensei/HoTD) TWFer now and find I enjoy him quite abit. I was thinking of TRing him but in that thought process I thought about how he could be better. So my questions:

Has anyone done a 12 Paladin/6 Fighter (or Ranger)/2 Monk? And how do you like it if you have one.

I know I would be giving up Power Surge and some other Kensei II benifits but being able to take Exhalted Smite II and Divine Sacrifice II along with gaining immunity to negative energy attacks from HoTD II or gaining some DPS back against evil outsiders with KoTC II seems inticing enough to ask about it.

Anyway, more of just an opinion thread. Let me know what you think.

I think the question is: what do you think ftr 6 / paladin 12 gets you that's better than paladin 18?

I basically don't think the tier III benefits of either HoTD or KoTC out weight the benefits of the feat flexability granted by either fighter or ranger 6, nor IMO the benefits of Kensei or Tempest I.

DoS is not really an appealing build as I already have a geared out Stalwart Defender, no need to double up on that type of build.

Well, if you plan on taking at least 12 levels of Paladin, you should go to 14 to get access to Zeal, which is a big boost in your DPS. I'm not sure how it compares to Kensai I(I think Zeal is a bigger boost, but I don't know that much about Kensai I), but it is definitely something to keep in mind.

Even if you don't think HotD / KotC III is all that great, what about Zeal, Holy Sword, Exalted Smite III & IV, and Divine Might III?

Sure, fighter 6 gets you 4 extra feats (two of which are "wasted" on your Kensai pre-reqs, so really only 2), but as monk 2 / paladin 18 you get 9 feats (10 if human); that's enough for Toughness, THF or TWF x3, Improved Crit, Power Attack, plus 3 (4) more. What else do you need?

Zeal would be a nice perk for going to 14 Paly. How does the 10% double strike stack up to the extra 10% off hand proc that Tempest I gets?

You are right Exhalted Smite III and IV are tastey, and may sway me to more lvls of paladin.

As to Holy Sword, I already have a pair of Min IIs and other assorted weapons for this guy, (he has been around a while) so that loss is not too hard to cope with.

    Freeman:
Kensei I gives you +1 to your combat DCs, +1 to Intimidate, +1 to hit and damage and +2 to confirm crits and critical damage before multipliers. It also gives +1 to a few other skills that don't really affect this build.
