WF Pure Wizard Archmage PRE

I got level 17 WF pure wizard and I want to try Archmage PRE (probably get Archmage IV with enhancement SLA for free Hypnotism) but I have to replace one of my feat to get Mental Toughness :/

I got Insightful Reflexes, Toughness, Extend, Maximize, Heighten, Quicken, Spell Penetration, Spell Focus: Enhancement and Spell Focus: Necromancy.

I do not use Heighten too much (except on some red names). And I do not want to replace Quicken, so it saves my back on high aggro situations.

Which one I should replace? Heighten?

You still have 2 feats to pick up from leveling. Why not use one of those for Mental Toughness? You could use the other for a GSF

Oh I forgot that I got Empower too.

I was planning to get Greater Spell Penetration and GSF: Enhancement

Should I drop GSP or Empower for my build? (I haven't used Empower - I always forget to activate it). Umm couldn't decide it...

quick question: why on earth would you trade heighten when you're going to get free heightened hypnotism for 1 SP? without heighten, the saving throw will be 8 points lower, and that is a *huge* difference.

Yeah, if you're planning on going Archmage with Enchantment focus, Heighten is the last metamagic you would want to drop.

Quicken or Extend would be about it and losing Extend for your short-term buffs (Haste!) would be a killer. Quicken is about the only feat you can afford to lose.

Wait...

Insightful reflexes? Unless you're planning to splash two levels of either monk or rogue, ditch it. Without evasion, it's not as useful as the other stuff you have.

If you don't use Empower swap that one out. I don't know what your HP pool looks like but on WF you could probably "get by" until lvl 18 to pick it up again if you don't want to swap out empower.

Someone made a good point about heighten (keep).
