    Hi katz,

Is it sound only or sound+graphics that stutter in sync? does the PC respond if you switch to desktop or is the PC frozen? If you leave the machine frozen does it eventually crash and reboot?

Please ask your husband to post a dxdiag from his PC:
    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=199719

Along with make and model in case the dxdiag does not capture this information.

Since update 7 I've been getting stuttering graphics + audio. Connected to spawns and especially discoballs but other aoe spells + spawns do the same thing. It usually doesn't lock up or crash the client, but only clears after the spawns are dead or the aoe is gone or both. Difficult to heal raids like this.

Also freeze when huge amounts of random renown are calculated, such as at the end of part 2 TOD.

    Win7 64bit, perhaps there's a problem with the 64-bit handling?
Please split the class forums into REAL subcategories this is a jumbled mess.

I also have a Win7 64bit PC, and the game literally won't allow any of my characters to move forwards and backwards, except to turn around, and it frustrates me when this happens even during a quest. And, I just happen to have a DirectX11 video card installed, so what I don't understand is why a DX11 card are unable to work on DDO properly.

BTW, this happens to be my first post on the DDO forums, and I have to throw in my 2 cents about this problem that I have been expereancing(sp) lately.

i don't notice any visual lag when i hear the stuttering, and when it does lock, everything is locked. pointer won't move, the sound is stuck (like the rapid repeating sound a stuck CD makes) etc. we've never been patient enough to wait and see if it restarts itself...we always just restart it manually via the reset button

problem first cropped up with update 7. hubby is one of the people who had to revert to dx9 in the settings to see more than a blank black screen

Thank you for providing that info katz,

Please update the sound drivers using this file:
    http://218.210.127.131/downloads/dow...n Audio Codecs

And display drivers using this package:
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...amily&lang=eng

I would also ensure EAX is disabled in DDO audio settings.

I would need the full model number (L355-Sxxx) in order to check for any fixes specific to your husband's laptop but try the above steps first.

Yes to the all above, exception 1- when it happens to me and it freezes the task manager is worthless and I half to just turn it off at the button !! And that can't be good either!! And trubin maybe good for many things but a 24 hr + turn around on issues I'm having now is just in no way any good!! However I will say this for some strange reason my gaming at this point is tolerable , but with said issues are still there, I have noticed that when playing at 2 -4 am. Mountane time game play is extremely smooth! Hum ! Try playing when there is not so many on line playing and see if your play is better . I have done all these things reported to fix this problem , it's my guess that the servers are so full that it make game play miserable for most at the time. Its also hard to believe that from the beginning I had no problems with game play up until around November 2010 when issues produced ther ugly face and now as of 2weeks ago game play has for the most part be some what better. I play with a high end machine and a better than avg video card , it may not be the very best , but I certainatly is better than avg and I also run a 20 Meg
Connection that's dedicated to my machine which is also dedicated to ddo play with nothing else running while in game play.
And I feel everyone here , I couldn't even play my high end toon cause of all the issues and deaths caused by hitches and freezes. So I rolled up another toon and now his lv is getting up there where if this continues I don't knowwhat I will do, like everyone here I have alot of time and money invested into this game and to just drop it would be a tragedy . I only hope turbin will really take an interest in these problems and help us determine what's wrong and help us customers fix the problem. I am no computer engineer or wizard so I'm truly relying on turbine.
    Thanks for listening/reading

BTW, this happens to be my first post on the DDO forums, and I have to throw in my 2 cents about this problem that I have been expereancing(sp) lately.
Inabilty to move or "rubber banding" are not usually graphics related, I would recommend you try the steps here and the connection related ones here but also open a tech support request if you haven't yet.

i don't notice any visual lag when i hear the stuttering, and when it does lock, everything is locked. pointer won't move, the sound is stuck (like the rapid repeating sound a stuck CD makes) etc. we've never been patient enough to wait and see if it restarts itself...we always just restart it manually via the reset button

problem first cropped up with update 7. hubby is one of the people who had to revert to dx9 in the settings to see more than a blank black screen
I would agree with Smitey on the sound driver update, those are much older than Windows 7 (full release in Oct 2009) and could definitely use an update. But I would also point out that the systems graphics card and CPU are also very limiting factors in the games performance on this system (Mobile Celerons aren't quite as feature packed as their equivelant speed desktop models, and the graphics card only has 128MB of dedicated "hardwired" memory and does not support alot of the features the game uses at a "hardware" level).

The game gets updated often and alot of times it can outpace drivers and older systems ability to support its features at the higher settings, all told I would recommend lowering settings where you can in Graphics and ADV Graphics and seeing if you can find a middle-ground between performance/quality and stability/functionality.

Thank you for providing the dxdiag SailorCallie,

I would update your display drivers:
    http://www2.ati.com/drivers/11-1_vista64_win7_64_dd.exe

    And audio drivers:
    http://majorgeeks.com/Realtek_High_D...P03_d4902.html

I note that your dxdiag stated:
    "DxDiag Previously: Crashed in DirectShow"

So I would recommend re-installing directx using the latest version:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en

Your Main hard disk is down to 16% free space:

    Drive: C:
    Free Space: 47.2 GB
    Total Space: 294.5 GB
So I'd recommend relocating files/uninstalling unnecessary programs and running the defragmentation tool

However - could you clear up wether you are playing wirelessly or is your PC hooked up to the network via a cable?

Options>UI settings>'show Network status display' will give you the real-time ping and loss stats in a tooltip that appears when you hover over the icon - could you advise what numbers you are getting when the rubber banding occurs please.
