Ah.. those were fast trash killing days in the shroud. Actually pulled my firsts w/p in the shroud at that. +2 adamantine w/p rapier. Still a fun toy, honestly.

Ignore what people say, the update did little to change the damage of a Ranger all it did is slow the attack speed down.

Now this might seem like a huge disadvantage but it was replaced with a 105% Double strike. While you attack 25% slower, you hit x2 every hit do the math. People complain because the haven't paid attention to damage only sound effects. They see slower swings and cry "nerf". It doesn't work that way.

My ranger could take an orthon down in ToD in about 7 seconds pre U5, now I can do the exact same if not better, but yes the attack animation is slower. Oh no, slower animation; same damage.

I know many will disagree but simple fact is: double strike is just that - x2 strikes. Each swing (105% at Tempest 3) you attack twice. while everyone without temp 3 only gets a chance. This means that once again Being a tempest is worthwhile if you want to use twf. It gave Rangers a huge advantage to anyone trying to compete. It didn't raise or lower our damage it made us stand out in the twf world. While others can still use twf they can not even come close to what a ranger can do, and need a **** ton of feats to accomplish this (which we get for free)

In conclusion: Pre U5 faster animation; post faster Damage. Outcome = no change to damage, advantage to being a twf ranger, disadvantage to all others using it.

Tempest 3 does NOT give 105% to doublestrike. Only 5%. Without it you have 0% chance to doublestrike.

Wait, people made STR based WoP Tempests? I thought that all the high AC noodle swingers in Shroud were proof that they were all only relying on their WoP to kill and actually had no real DPS... I guess there were a few people who remembered that not everything could be killed by a WoP.

Sigh it's people like this who simply never read:

To be Tempest you need Improved twf that's 60% double strike. Add Greater twf that's 80%.
    Tempest I = 10%
    Tempest 2 = 10%
    Tempest 3 = 5%

    That's 105%

It's not tough to understand. Please read before adding ignorant comments.

This is true...and why I have to be careful when prepping things in raids like Shroud Pt 2 ....1 swing has a high chance to hit 3 times. Without critting that could be over 100HP of damage to a pillar or the red names in Shroud 2.

No, it's 0 base chance to doublestrike. 0 from feats. 0 from Tempest 1 and 2, and 5% from Tempest 3.

The ONLY sources of doublestrike in the game are Tempest 3 (5%), Fighter capstone (10%), Recklessness bardsong (5%) and a few Chronoscope weapons (3-6%).

Please read before accusing people that know what they are talking about of being wrong, and learn the difference between proccing an offhand attack and doublestriking (which is a second free attack with the weapon in your MAIN hand)
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Actually its people like you who never read. A double strike is where the main hand procs twice. What you are discussing is off hand attacks. Tempest 1 gives a 10% stacking chance for off hand strikes. Tempest 2 is another 10 so with gtwf your off hand attacks hit 100% of the time. Tempest 3 gives a 5% chance for your main hand to proc twice in addition to your off hand.

You should take your own advice and read before adding ignorant comments. As in your quoted post.

You left out two sources of double strike. You have the rogue oppertunist feat 3%-10% fort, and the paladin zeal spell lvl4 spell 10% double strike chance.

If the tempest 2 bonus is already a total of 100%, one would think it's obvious why an additional 5% is no upgrade at all. Given that, it wouldn't take much to question why there would be a totally useless bonus and look it up to figure out what it is that you're misunderstanding.

With that, I wonder if you can be serious or if you're just trying to confuse people for fun.

Hmmm ..ok sirgog...thanks for clearing that up. I'm still learning about how to analyze my damage output based on the numbers flying above the monster's head LOL

I guess what I'm seeing is something else.
