    Default Half-Orc 13rog/6monk/1ranger Qstaff build

I was inspired after seeing OldAquarian's thread here, but decided that I liked monk and ninja spy better than kensei as my main is a pure monk.

This is my take on a H-Orc Qstaff build. The levels I take each class and the feat order I'm not 100% sure on so I could definitely use some C&C there. I tried to get Ranger asap for wand usage, Acrobat I and Ninja I asap in that order as well.

Whats the point of the fighter level...you obviously don't need the extra feat (4 toughness) nor do you need the weapon profs since you already have Q-Staff prof....so whats it for 7 Monk is far more potent.

I went for 1 fighter on my staff build. I did this for the hp (2+10 from enhancement), the feat, the stunning blow tactic thing and +2 fort save.
That said, monk gives access to improved recovery rank 2, the selfheal thing (for my build I'd have gotten that around level 18-19, and didn't see the point - I'd rather umd wands/scrolls at that point), and better effect for some monk thingies.

You know I never realized that I did that. The guy below you has a point bout the tactic AP, the fort save, and the extra HP though. That said..what about a level of ranger? Evil Outsider favored enemy for some slight added dps?
    So the question:

    13rog/7monk
    13rog/6monk/1fgt
    13rog/6monk/1rng

Which would give the most benefit?

Hmm, ranger for a small FE bonus (+3 damage, +1 AC if you want), +2 fort and reflex save, sprint boost and no-umd wand use isn't bad, either.

What level would you suggest taking ranger?

Probably 2 or 4, to get some mileage out of the wand use. I think I took my fighter level at 4, so would likely take ranger there instead if I made such a build.

The latest Planner has been updated to match all the features of the current release
You can click the RED link - DDO Character Planner Home Page in the build to go to the planner page to download the latest version
This was built with a BETA version - but the latest is not beta
    Enjoy

Here are some input that I added to OldAquarians thread since he requested some calcs.

    13 rogue 6 fighter 1 monk (42 STR)

    452,17 DPS if THF-Twitching
390,59 DPS normal fighting (Then you have glancing blows)

    13 rogue 6 monk 1 ranger (40 STR)

    467,29 DPS if THF-Twitching
396,99 DPS normal fighting (Then you have glancing blows)

Now we need to remember that the 3 damage from FE is very limited since it only works against one group of monsters. So if we remove those then the DPS is 457,18 THF-Twitch and 387,55 THF.

Then you have some other factors to keep in mind when choosing a build:

    13 rogue 6 fighter 1 monk
    * 6 Fighter give you 4 extra feats + 1 from 1 Monk
    * 6 Fighter gives more HP then 6 Monk
    * 6 Fighter gives better BAB then 6 Monk
    * 6 Fighter gives 2 extra damage from weapon specialization and 2 extra str (equals to 1 more damage and 1 to hit)
    * 6 Fighter gives you kensei I +2 damage (due to THF), + 1 to combat dc, +1 to ki on critical hits

    13 rogue 6 monk 1 ranger

    * 6 Monk gives you 3 extra feats where the 6 Fighter gets 5
    * 6 Monk gives 5% doubleattack chance instead of 2,5% with 1 monk
    * 6 Monk gives a bit better ki strikes, resulting in about 1.5 more damage per hit compared to 1 Monk
    * 6 Monk gives 20% extra run speed, whereas 1 monk gives none
    * 6 Monk gives ninjaspy I which gives 3.5 extra sneakattack damage and also Shadow Fade (which in my oppinion is a very very nice ability that gives you a 20% concealment that stacks with Blur and Displacement
    * 1 Ranger adds 3 extra damage vs favored enemy (very situational though), ranger sprint boost

Just some more input to the discussion

    * 6 Monk gives you access to second tier stances
    * 6 Monk allows you to take the First & Second tiers of you animal path which can be quite potent
    * 6 Monk Gives you access to Monk Wis1&2 further increasing your AC and special attacks power and/or DCs
    * 6 Monk allows you to choose Light or Dark Monk path giving you highly potent abilities and access to PREs (Most likely Dark Monk for this build...some benefits shown above)
    * 6 Monk gives you Disease Immunity
    * 6 Monk gets +2 AC from an improved centered bonus
    * 6 Monk will have much higher saves
    * 6 Monk gets more Skill points
    * 6 Monk grants the ability to regenerate your Ki
    * 6 Monk can have +20% Improved Recovery

Notes in Red (You missed alot of monk 6 stuff)...also note that 7 Monk will get you a self-healing ability and improved recovery.

Note: Too bad you can't make a Barb Monk :P

As I stated in the OP it all comes down to preference in my opinion.

Also..I made some changes to the build and the info posted in the OP. I cut down my HP in order to take SF: UMD. Not desirable to be under 500 HP as I'm accustomed to over 500 HP on my monk, but with such low hitdice on Rogue it wasn't very easy to have tons of HP without taking tons of Toughness. Decided that with -20% Threat and UMD for Heal Scrolls it wouldn't be such an issue.

Updated HP totals, UMD totals, and Stunning Blow DC breakdown.

Yes I am aware that I was missing alot, I am sure there are things missed on the fighter side too. I simply wrote down the things that I had in mind at that point and which was of importance. Ie it felt not necessary to point out the evasion thing since you get improved evasion from the rogue lvls anyway etc. So the short list that I wrote down was not meant to be a complete list more some thought.

Also the main focus was around the damage since that was the original request of OldAquarian, then some other things slipped in.

Either way it's good the more complete it is
