    Default Halfling Void Shintao 20 Monk

    Due to real-life issues and what not, I've taken quite a long break from DDO. With the past update, I was wondering if anyone could take a look at how viable the following Void Strike build would be. I have never played a monk, but have played around with a bard, a barbarian, and a battlecleric in the past.

    I'm more or less assuming that I'd be starting out with no tomes, no fancy items, other than a 32 point build, since that's pretty much all I've got at this point (probably starting on a server where I don't know anyone or have past characters).

    I've stuck in a 2 +1 tomes around level 16, thinking that I'd find or buy two by then.

    (Incidentally, this is also my first forum post! Long time lurker here.)

    This build doesn't work like it is showing. It shows you only have a final base WIS of 14, with and a final Enhanced of 16. You need to have a base WIS of 16 for Master of Seas. (enhancements do not count towards it) Maybe it's because the new planner is only 2 days old, but currently wouldn't actually be able to get Master of Seas. Without tomes, you could get by this by adding two of your STR level ups into WIS

    A few suggestions off the top of my head.

    A Shintao-Monk will be working effects most of the time, most likely from strikes and abilities you obtain. And in your case, the Shintao abilities and the Void IV strike.

    In which case, it might be more prudent to have Wind Stance active (more hits and chances to hit) and lower Strength a little.

    But in any event, as Martdon has already pointed out a bit, you'll likely need a +2 tome somewhere along the line in order to make your monk workable if you want Void Strike IV and Shintao Monk PrE as well.

    Yeah I've fixed it up to make it actually work. I was planning on using the ultimate wind stance (hence grandmaster of storms) and focusing on a strength primary, wisdom secondary monk.
