I have no complaints about the current version. After all, it is already a mass negative healing effect and a mass damage effect.
I will remind you that it can be maximized, empowered, heightened (to make sure the damage lands on enemies. Leave that off it you dont need the enemy harming part) and quickened (emergency heal). That is 12.5d8 healing/harming right there, before crits and without the prestige boosting your negative energy spells or a negative energy item. so, 13-100 hp
Add another 45% for the full Pale master line, and another 75% for a good negative energy item and you get 27.5D8 or 28-220 healing. If you just have potency +40% its 23.125d8 or roughly 23-185. Not too shabby (my math is making everything additive. If something is multiplative, its even higher).
And then there are the crits...
No, I was checking this out on my Pale Master. The damage it produces is fine, it's about 175ish on my inbound heals.
My only complaint is that it is 4th level; that level is super crowded.

Indeed. Level 4 spells are difficult to choose (WoF has earned its spot though.)
I'm actually using D-Door as my swap spell. Death Aura is useful even if I'm not in Lich mode - doubly so if I am undeading-it. Wall of Fire, Stoneskin and Displacement can't move either. Seriously. To me, that leaves Dimension Door and aside from going to get stragglers on the way to VoD (aren't there always some?) and ADQ flagging it's the one I'm using the least.
I need to collect and hoard some more scrolls.
