    Default Lag and disconnect

I am running on an 18meg cable modem line I have no problems with any other programs and ddo worked fine before patch 7 now about every 30-60 minutes I will loose connection to the world server will go yellow and then red then it will close the game the chat server never closes untill the game finaly quits and when I log back in it's fine for again 30-60 minutes I have tried my laptop at my friends his laptop at my place my laptop and desktop here so I know this is not a computer or ISP issue as the same thing happens on 3 different computers at 2 different locations and completely different ISP's and again this has only started happening since the last patch I am using DX9 as 10 was giving me the black screen error any suggestions?
let me know if you need any more info
    thanks
    Miark

Need more troubleshooting, since both lag and latency can have various causes (including the update changes).
Whenever the latency shows red i try to quickly alt-tab to see if the internet is really lost and not just for to ddo servers.

I also check if the router has a quick hiccup, because these are so short that windows don't detect them and the leds on the router only flash red for a moment and reconnect fast, but not fast enough for ddo's timeout.
I wonder if ddo's timeout can be upped, most of the time i dc the router reconnects asap but ddo still timeout and shut down and thus a few more seconds would be nice.

Generally, unless everyone is on the forums instead of playing ranting about connection issues or game performance......it's something on your end.....usually your ISP, connection to ISP problem like bad modem or cables, or a computer perfomance issue.

This game is very sensitive, if your stuff is not tweaked properly you'll have problems.

defintaly not the router and the internet stays connected durring the day when I am not playing I run 3 SSL tunnels and 2 VOIP lines off my desktop if there is a loss of connection with the servers for even less than 1 second the systems I am running pop up an alert this is some sort of problem with the connection to the DDO site or the DDO servers themselves the lights on the router and modem never go red. again the chat server never drops not even any lag or distortion with the voice chat crystal clear for me and the people I talk to

I'm not sure then, I have gone thru a lot of lag type issues with DDO and what I am starting to find is the amount of people that actually are voval about lag problems are very small compared to the people playing.

But then the amount of people that actually use the forums is small compared to teh amount of players....however everytime I posted a game performance issue thread in the past, there are usually quite a few people stating they have no problems at all.......which leads me to believe that it is some kind of interaction with how your ISP communicates with DDO maybe.

I am personally dropping my broadband and getting DSL, broadband offers higher speeds but becomes congested way to easily, especially in a computer-user heavy population.
I really don't think there is much more Turbine can or will do at this time to make it easier on our side to stay connected, basically I think it boils down to us having to really optimize on our side.

I still believe ddoclient is oversensitive of connection hiccups, surely there's a timeout or a buffer somewhere that can have an increase.
I don't think any voice software is affected by the small flickers, i have also run ssh tunnels and these never dc, at best they lag a little.

The routers reconnect so fast no one notices, not windows, not the browsers, but the ddoclient balks.
But the hiccups exist, you can note small timeouts if looking at file transfers on telnet, ftp or even the browser.
It depends if you are looking, i suspect it's all schrodinger's fault.
