ToD Elite

Ravensguard ran an Elite ToD killing both bosses last night (for about 40k XP for those of us who were still levelling).

Before you all get your panties bunched, I know this has been done many times before. I was in the First World Elite ToD Completion killing both bosses days after the raid first dropped last year. Spare me.

Things are a bit different now. Be warned...this ain't Ren's gramma's ToD.

When Supremacy pugged it out on Elite 2 days ago on Sarlona, we burned a few pots (4 i think, plus a stack or so of heal scrolls) due to a failed disint save by the tank. Sulu's chest dropped, I got 2 larges out of it. Five rings dropped.

A bunch of us on Khyber did one last night - part 1 was smooth (we were well-prepared for it), part 3 was pure chaos.

All went smooth until Suulo was around 60%, when the Horoth tank dropped, was raised, and dropped again. (I don't know what killed them and whether or not these deaths were preventable).

We then switched Horoth tank to someone that had the AC to be untouchable in melee but who struggles to live through a Disintegrate natural 1.

On the Suulo end, we also swapped tank midstream (I'd been tanking on my main, the 'soul survivor' FvS build, but kept having to throw emergency heals, sometimes even on the main Horoth tank, and the time spent throwing them meant I lost threat). Fleshy non-AC melee of some description took over and I switched to healbot mode.

Total chaos. Lots of fun. Quite resource-intensive, but that was to be expected, it was several of the party's first Elite run, and most of us weren't on our mains.

Terrible loot drops from Horoth's chest, but there were eight or nine Shroud larges pulled.

Over Raided did their Elite ToD run w/ Suulo last night as well on Orien. It wasn't that bad, really. Just took awhile longer because suulo has quite the HP on elite needless to say.

We had my intimitank FvS healing/intimidating Suulo and a barb hate tanking horoth. It was sad how slow suulo's HP went down compared to Horoth... who only had one barbarian beating on him heh. No tomes and the rings sucked (as they always do on elite for us it seems), but the extra chest had quite a few large mats in it. Overall, it just added 7-8 minutes to our completion time. Lightside monk helped, but not terribly needed since we had mantles and enough healers to kill our DPS <.<

If I'd say anything, it was intense on the arcane. He's the only one to use resources. Not too much, only a few pots, but more than usual I'd say. Usually we solo arcane Elite ToD, but now we'll have to rethink it since killing suulo and rounds of portals adds a lot of time to kiting/stoning orthons. We did 3 rounds of portals just to be safe and it spawned just fine. Overall, not bad.

Why kill the portals? Is this something new I havent heard about. Youre the second person from that server Ive seen mention this, and the first never answered my question.

Second the question. I've never heard of anybody killing the portals on Thelanis.

We didn't touch a portal on our recent elite run, and got Suulo's chest just fine. I don't think there is currently, or ever has been, any correlation between killing the portals and getting the Suulo chest.

I think it was some1 silly, and telling us new players that we needed to kill portals way back when. Or when players researched threads or some other places, there was mis-represenetd info.

We know now that destroying portals was for fun.
