Default Should I Reroll for Archmage

I'm still a relative new-comer to DDO. I started a wizard and leveled him all the way to level 12 following Sigtrent's guide for the Basic Bearded Wizard to the letter.

Now, the release of the Archmage PrE line got me thinking about spell DC's. I'm wondering if it would be worth restarting the character to max out my enchantment DC's.

I'd reroll the character with maxed int (+1 DC's); either as a Drow (another +1 to DC's) or as a human (an extra feat is always nice); and take both spell focus: enchantment and greater spell focus: enchantment. With these changes and both Archmage Spell Focus enhancements I figure i could increase my enchantment spell dc's by 5-6.

I'm f2p (except i bought the Delera's Tomb pack with the TP i earned from gaining favor) so it was rather difficult to get my beared wizard all the way up to level 12. My question is, is +5-6 on enchantment DC's worth the the time to get back to level 10+?

start saving up siberys shards, 10,000 fragments may sound like a lot but it's not that hard to get really. that'll let you swap one feat.

One of the nice things about being a Wizard is that you get enough feats to go deeper into metamagic, etc. than Sorcerers, Clerics and FvS can. At levels 15 and 16, you can take Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus and pick up Maximise at 18 (or Spell Focus at 15, Maximise at 16 and Greater Spell Focus at 18).

Alternately, a visit to Fred the Mindflayer will let you swap out Improved Mental Toughness for a Spell Focus. Mention which server you play on and your character's name and I'm sure that someone can hook you up with some plat and an appropriate Syberis Dragonshard to swap out your feat.

Thanks for your post. I thought about switching Imp Mental Toughness for Spell Focus and taking Greater Spell focus at level 18 instead of a second helping of toughness, but that means i've missed out on +1-2 on my DC's and/or 1-2 feats by not going pure wizard, maxing Int, and going with Drow or Human instead of Dwarf.

I guess what I'd really like to know is how useful/important is it to min/max for those 1-2 extra feats and the bonus on my enchantment DC's at even higher levels.

I wouldn't reroll just yet either. Feat-swap first.

It is somewhat dependent on the time you've spent on the character and what kind of investment that is for you. Is starting again at first going to be something you can level-through quickly?
Ghallanda - now with fewer alts and more ghostbane

Actually, if you only have Deleras and nothing else, aren't you kinda stuck at 12 anyway? A new character on a brand new server would harvest more TP.

The built you referenced looks more like a battle mage build with that weird paladin splash. Maybe you should figure out how to make the melee aspect work on this one, and build the other one for casting, and keep both.

Maybe you can keep playing it and hope for a heart of wood to drop sometime in the way to lv 20?
Meanwhile some feat swaps and int tomes to keep that DC up.

Don't forget Lockania's Dragon Mark quest in the Marketplace near the Auction House. End reward is a free feat swap, once per character.
