Power attack enhancement not working?

rolled a barb, 4th level.

Took the first tier of power attack enhancement which gives +1 to damage.

The enhancement, I would assume is a 'always on' passive, but is shown as a clickable square.


I looked at my inventory and pressing power attack added +5 to the damage, not +6.
Adding the enhancement to the toolbar only end up turning power attack on/off and never adds that +1 to damage.

is this wai or do I not understand how to make that enhancement work?

edit: okay, I see, it is based on Base attack bonus and not just +5...so the thing is working.

but why is it a clickable/draggable enhancment and not a passive one?

It is WAI.

You are 4th level, meaning your BAB is +4. So you can only trade that +4 BAB for a +4 in damage. The enhancement gives you +5.

At level 5, you will be seeing the appropriate +6.

At lvl 4 your BAB is only 4 so PA can only add 4 to dmg so 4 +1 enhacement =5 now once your BAB goes up you'll get the full PA dmg bonus.
