    Default Tempest and ?

I'm going to be reincarnating soon, but kinda stuck on which route to take. I was thinking about going 18ranger/2fighter. Id be able to start with maxed out str and con and dump a bit in dex. I've been thinking a bit more lately about going maybe 12ranger/8fighter or maybe even a ranger/fighter/barbarian multiclass. Because of the stats i plan on starting with i dont see any point to throwing any monk or rogue into my build, im focusing mainly on DPS, with the added benefits of certain spells and evasion.

    Any advice would be apreciated

Are you looking to have UMD as a skill?

    Default Then why ranger?

I've capped an exploiter, and feel that almost all the advantages of a ranger lie in extra utility. If you want to go DPS, I'd either go fighter or barbarian. "Dumping" dex is a bit of a misnomer. You will need 13 Dex for dodge, and since it begins your sequence of dodge/mobility/spring attack you are unlikely to want to get there via tomes.

You will be taking a pretty big hit in DPS for spells and archery (and I suppose sneaking as well). You are giving up easily available strong rogue skills and not so available (I haven't started the AC grind yet) AC. On the other hand, if you want evasion and a bow, I'm not sure that ranger2/rogue(or monk)2/fighter16 is worth anything. Ranger 6/rogue 2/fighter(or barbarian)12 might be.

    Crud.

In my excitement about the half-orc, totaly forgot that in order to even gain my tempest feet i need to have at least 13 dex ><. Thanks for the reminder, woulda sucked to find that out the hard way.

    So after a step backward:

Assuming i max str and put 12 in dex (i've got plenty of tomes at my disposal, could eat a +1 early on) i can put 16 into con and get wis to 12 if i wanted to go the exploiter route. But then i wouldnt be able to get CE because of my 6 intel. I could get my int to 10 and keep wis at 8, but i dont think the minimal rouge skills would be worth it.

I could also max str, put 11 into dex and 17 into con. If i eat a +2 dex at lvl 7 i could swap out some feats at that point to get my tempest line started (if i take a different class before then its not like i'll delay tempest anyhow) and then a +3 Con tome would even out my Con modifyer.

I want to go 12 Rng at least because that gives me a few spells, evasion, FE, and the free TWF feats. is Tempest III worth the extra six levels of ranger? I could go 12 ranger/8 fighter and get the Kensai enhancement along with my tempest, and i think that would bring the haste boosts (not 100% on this) or i could even go 12ranger/6fighter/2Barb for faster movement, bit more HP and a couple barbarian rages.

Never made a build like this (as you could tell by my forgetting the dex requirement for dodge and sprng attack) so i really apreciate your help with this.

you get the possibility of haste boosts at fighter lvl 1 or rogue lvl 1 (5 uses of tier 1 haste boost). you surely ment powersurge (that adds 8 to strength for a minute) which is a kensai II enhancement (so 12 lvl fighter needed).

anyway there are quite a few good builds with 12 ranger possible.

Yes, if you don't give a hoot about AC go 1 barb for extra run-speed and an extra point of power attack.

No i didnt mean powersurge, i meant the fighter haste III, Fighter Critical Accuracy III, Fighter Toughness III, 2 Adittional fighter STR points, KensaiI, and i've heard the flanking bonus is a must.

If i splash in rogue or monk (which im not looking much into to be honest) i'm not going to have enough stat points to be effective (id be arming myself with either a 10 INT or a 12 Wis or a 10 Cha) My focus hasnt shifted much from multiclassing between the melee classes, and thats where im hung up on. Not sure which is the best distribution.
