Default Death effects vs Immune monsters

I suggest that all death effects and spells result in both death and 500 damage on a failed save. This way if a monster is not immune, it dies, and if it is immune, it takes damage and allows death spells and effects to be worth using.

Maybe make the 500damage negative energy like the monk attack, so that it still wont work on monsters with the deathward spell, or normally death immune monsters like undead and constructs.

So you think a level 8 character in xorian cipher should take 500pts of damage if they're wearing a deathblock robe when a tharak hound gets annoyed with them?

This would probably be one of those things that should affect players differently.

I would suggest the following to address this...

All death effects change to do death and 20% of a target's HP total (not current HP) upto a max of 500 damage. This is a negative energy effect so immunity effects it normally.

    Not a bad compromise.
