Launcher Freezing at Server Select Screen

I start up the launcher, type in my password, and then the launcher freezes at the server select screen.
Can select a server, can't minimize, can't exit, nothing.
I have to Ctrl->Alt->Delete and end the process to close it.
Anyone else having this problem, and anyone know if I can do anything.

Been watching other threads about the DirectX issues, and have done everything that they have been saying, but still no help.
My problem is different however, as I can't even get into the game to have it go black on me.
And I am running Windows XP.

I opened the Lam client, and although the server is down, it does not freeze on me when I get to the server select screen.

I get about 1 sec to highlight a new server, but whether it doesn't matter which server I try to log on to, it freezes shortly after.

I am really looking forward to playing, so any help would be appreciated.

My client kept crashing after the password at the world selection screen. I'd get a missing script error then a big white page with what looked like a bunch of file names that scrolled off the bottom of the screen. The fourth time I launched it, it just worked. I've heard insanity is trying the same actions and expecting different results, but sometimes a little craziness helps!

For the heck of it, has anyone tried renaming the launcherusersettings file? As mentioned above, it might take more than one restart after renaming.

Or, long shot, has anyone looked at the logfiles to see if there's any further info in there?

Further long shot, if someone's got a fairly restrictive firewall, I suppose it's possible the update altered the game files enough to have to reallow them.

I was able to log, by checking off log into last play world.

I logged on once, and Sarlona was green (last played world) and before I could select it, it froze up on me again.

So I figured if I had the box checked, and tried it again, it would log on to the world before it froze.

I was right, and I got on Sarlona (after 10+ tries) however I need to get on to Khyber because, I have Wednesday night static group there.

Hoping the issue will resolve itself be them time it's grouping time, as I am already behind the group, because I joined it late.

Finally able to get on Khyber last night, after 10 hours of trying on and off. Of course the leader of my group had just logged nine minutes before. Told a couple others what happened and, played around for a little.
Rolled a H-Orc killed some things, deleted and reroll until I think I have a build written out that I think would work.
(Can't wait for Ron's Char Planner to be updated 8D)
Logged off for the night, thinking that whatever it was had sorted itself out.

Came back this morning, and same thing. Freezes at Server Select.
I am hoping I do not have to wait a ridiculous amount of time again.

Same issue here. I've reported it as a bug and mentioned it on several threads in the hope that some Dev will take notice. Sure be nice to get something from a Dev that you're on it. Being VIP and not getting to take advantage of all this neat U7 stuff is quite upsetting.

WOOT! Got mine to work! Here's what I did.

First enable 'Show Hidden Files and Folders'- Control Panel->Folder Options

Restart your computer, some of the files you need to delete, won't if you've tried to open the launcher since your last restart.

Then go to your C drive->Documents and Setting-><User Name>->Local Setting->Temp
Delete the contents of your Temp folder. There shouldn't be anything in there that is important, seeing as it is temporary.

Part 1 over, now.

Now go to your C drive->Documents and Setting-><User Name>->Application Data->Turbine
Delete the contents of the Turbine folder. Everything that is important will be reinstalled when you start the launcher again.

I don't know if you only have to do either part 1 or 2 or both, I did them both and it worked!
I am in game with no problems.

Hope that works.
This was done on a Windows XP machine, if you are Vista or Windows 7 I am not sure if it will, work, or if the folder's names are the same.

Someone over at another thread tested out deleting only the Temp folder contents, and it did not work. So it looks like you only need to delete the contents of the launcher folder. Not sure if you only need to delete a single file, but it works by deleting the whole folder.

The launcher is a touch slower afterwards, but it doesn't affect gameplay, so another 5 seconds to get on, but it works, is fine with me. (More like 2 but whatever)

I got this solution from Turbine support: try putting the launcher in compact mode (the double down arrow button at the top of the window) prior to logging in. It doesn't seem like this would make any difference, but it works perfectly here!
