    Default New summon options

According to the letter from Fernando (and conspicuously absent from the release notes...at least I didn't see anything about it), each tier of summon spell now has 3 possible creatures it can pop up. I'm at like 2% of the download, so if anyone in-game can give some info about the new critters, please let us know!

There is a thread on the Lammania forums (not sure how access works to those tho) explaining the new spells, the creatures it summons, and comments on those to.

From what I can personally tell by playing a bit in Lammania: Umbral Worg + Control Undead + some quick reflexes = lots of fun. Bearded Devil is also absolutely worth of note. And just not having to use the burrowspastatic Scorpion from Summon II made me smile.

Edit: Here's the link, cast Raise Dead on it from page 10 Lamaforums: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=276013

    Default Bearded devil summon

    Can have my bearded babies.
That'd be a double bearded sexy devil in layman's terms.

Everytime I catch up to him/her/it and see the wreckage it caused as it stands there placidly cheers my heart,so much so that I have dubbed it Mr.Heston in honor of its luscious beard.

It's mentioned very briefly in the release notes under "General Spell Changes" - ■Players now get a choice of monsters to summon for each level of Summon Monster

I've been playing with Summon Monster IX and noticed that the Ghaele Eladrin cannot be targeted in the focus orb to check his health or to throw spells at him. I just have to wait until he gets near me and then fire off a mass heal.

Will file a report this evening.

Could someone copy/paste the list and comments from the Lammania thread?

I've been really enjoying the Bearded Devil. Thanks to the teleporting, he's an amazingly lazy way of dealing with those archers/casters in hard to reach spots.

I'm loving the Bearded Devil too. It wiped out a bunch of mobs shooting at me from a higher level on two sides of a room before I could even get off two bolts. It ranges around a lot, though, so I wouldn't recommend using it those times when you're just passing through a wilderness area on your way to a quest.

While levelling, the Bearded Devil is about as good as having a PUG melee with you. Unlike a PUG melee, the Devil does not add to Dungeon Scaling.

The Summon Monster 8 Earth Elemental is just awesome too.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

You gotta love the beardy devil and his frantic running around.
Just like the shroud's lieutenant that can't stay put and roams the whole maze if the players are spread.

Dumb question (haven't been able to get in game yet to find out, and won't be able to for a while) - Does this ability to choose between 3 monsters work for items with Summon Monster clickies on it too?

It was there. It's the 4th point under General Spell Changes.

On Argo I play: Allandra Lvl 17 Rogue, and a few others.

So my newb half-elf enchanter archamge summoned a lantern archon and hypnoed a bunch of enemies to see what it could do.

    It turns out, absolutely nothing.

The archon started casting spells.. at least I think it was trying to cast spells, it was making a spell-casting-ish noise, and had an animation... but the monsters stayed hypnoed.. and not re-hypno because it's casting hypno.. as near as I can tell, it's not actually doing anything but the animation and sound.

So I was summing mephits.. mephits are cool, right? But mephits often summon other mephits, and these new mephits were not under my control, so they immediately attacked the mephit I'd summoned... also, sometimes when a mephit dies it also summons a new mephit... you can see where this is going.

I believe with level 8 you can also summon a dense stone elemental (higher level earth ele).

Air is where it's at though. I wouldn't be surprised if it catches a nerf in the near future.

Edit: Actually, maybe it's level 7 for the dense stone elemental. Now that I think of it, 8 is Bezekira, Air Ellie or Orthon.
