With the fighter dilettante, you no longer need to splash fighter to get martial proficiency, which opens up class capstones.
    1. Warchanter II grants you martial weapon proficiency in the weap of choice -> no fighter dilettante needed
    2. Battleclerics made with FvS or Elf gain Weap prof in Longsword/Rapier/Scimitar -> no fighter dilettante needed
    3. Human Free feat might anticipate any planned feat to grant any one weap proficiency of choice at 3rd lvl and....Exotic weapon proficiency: Khopesh!!!! -> no fighter dilettante needed

    Another epic fail for Half-elf...

Lol, you know another reason why nearly all splashscreens before this one have been of actual creatable characters and/or actual monsters as they appear in game, and the new one doesn't even come close????

    Seriously Turbine; /Epic Fail.

And whichever Dev commited about half elves being so attractive ( I can't be bothered to search for the post ), and the designers responcible, need to seek some serious help from a qualified eye care professional.

I tend to believe in being constructive when offering criticism.
This is what I cobbled together, after messing with Paint Shop Pro up a bit.

    Crude, rushed, pixelated.
And yet, I'd rather have my half elves look anything like that, than what DDO is currently offering to me.

    ...

As an extra treat, I created mini-skins, replacing existing focus orbs with a static image from the above.
You won't be able to see stuff in it any more, but at least, when watching your half elven char from behind, with these revised focus orbs you'll be able to pretend you're playing something that remotely resembles a half elf.

These are things that worry me about Half-Elf as they presently stand. But...we do know, that Half-Elves are not complete, and Turb plans to enhance them as we go along.

    They need it.

I've been running builds thru, and I can't find any build that makes the Diletante feats exceedingly useful. I like the concept but...they need something more per racial feat.

Male half-elves are seriously creeping me out right now. Mine currently has a massive forhead, and basically a baby-face. He looks like he has a mental disability! Can we please get something a little less horendus to portray the greatest race on Ebberon? Please!

one of my guildies gets seriously excited with the female half elf /taunt (Elli).

on the account i'm not using i've been creating trash fvs half-elf with the sorc feat and every time he comes on the ship /taunting him. and then complaining 'cos we're already in the next quest and he's still stuffing around on the ship...

I managed to get one looking fairly attractive by choosing hair that basically covered half her face. The bangs hide the large, sloping monkey forehead look, while the covered up eye somewhat hides the inbred cross eyed look. She looks like a suicidal emo, but at least she's not a malformed hairless monkey.

The male HEs just need to be whacked in the face with a flaming burst maul. Repeatedly.

    1. Warchanter II grants you martial weapon proficiency in the weap of choice -> no fighter dilettante needed
99.9999% of players start at levels 1-4, depending on if they have veteran builds or not. Warchanter II is only available at Bard level 12. And I've never seen a pure class Bard. So for those of us who haven't hacked into the server and altered their character to be level 12 from the start, or to start with warchanter II, we can take a splash, or we can take HE + Fighter Dil.

Also, It's not free, you have to spend 6ap for the PrE, plus whatever AP costs it has (can't recall offhand), and then spend more AP on each weapon proficiency. I'd rather take the HE Fighter Dil feat myself. Save the AP for something more important, like boosting my songs effects or length, improving my healing spells' effectiveness, or mocking know-it-all posters.

    2. Battleclerics made with FvS or Elf gain Weap prof in Longsword/Rapier/Scimitar -> no fighter dilettante needed
Not comparable, as that is a single weapon, not every martial weapon. That's some 20 feats vs 1-2. Also a difficult, and not very good build choice. My "Battlecleric" prefers Cometfall, Greater Command, and Blade Barrier to mere longswords and rapiers.

    3. Human Free feat might anticipate any planned feat to grant any one weap proficiency of choice at 3rd lvl and....Exotic weapon proficiency: Khopesh!!!! -> no fighter dilettante needed
Still not quite as comparable, as the Fighter dil will give you access to all martial weapons, not just one. Meaning you're not stuck paying absurd AH prices when you need a DR breaker, and can just pick whatever you can find that's effective. Khopesh is nice, but not quite as nice when you need a good hammer to bring something down.

Half-elves are far from powerful, but far from worst either. There are still Elves and Drow you know.

I think it is something with the pasty, featureless complexion.
Some users even mentioned botox-like skin.

Other races have rich skin textures; the small wrinkles, moles and softly sagging tissues give the illusion of living flesh.
Eyes look equally lively; the oversized pupils half elves get have a disconcerting, doll-like quality.

    ...

On the whole - if I may allow myself to be harsh here - half elves look a bit like crash victims patched up by a taxidermist who loved stuffing his animals a bit too much.

Or we can use the handy level 1 spell for any martial proficiency deficiencies and play any race we want instead of being stuck rolling up a botoxfreak.

The splash screen was wonderful, maybe that's what Fernando was gushing about? Or does he just really like pedo-looking young males?

Are you guys even working on a visual fix? I've seen some better enhancements coming out which gives me hope... but I'd really like some news on this. It CAN'T be WAI for them to look this terrible. At the very least add new noses/faces, change the lips up, and change lipcolors to not be so plastic - have some that are naturally beautiful instead of painted on in a skank salon.
Please split the class forums into REAL subcategories this is a jumbled mess.

I also want to see those pictures.

I noticed a small difference lately on how the Half-Elves looks in the focus orb, they look better then they used to look, but they used to be: ugly, very ugly or horrible, now they are ooohhhhkayyyyy (merely acceptable), ugly, very ugly or horrible. Compared to elves, drows, humans or halflings, half-elfs are still far behind.
