Default The Tide Turns .... fun??

Well I certainly had fun in The Tide Turns quest last night, but I'm not so sure that my group mates did. A rogue that gets lost once, can't detect the trap boxes and then blows the box up when someone else finally finds it for me, well I'm sure there were some W T F head scratching going on from the other people. I did inform people I was new and hadn't done the quest before, so hopefully they won't blacklist my rogue Zypper. I've been mostly soloing up to level 8, but plan to be trying more grouping.

Well one good thing came out of it. I found a link to help make some improvements http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/How_d...l)_high_enough

    Happy hunting,

Great to hear you had a good time. Hopefully the rest of your group was ok with your struggles.
The next few levels can be very challenging as a rogue. Make sure you have the best gear you can get and all should be well.

    Keep smiling!

Hey, as long as it wasn't done on purpose and you are willing to learn, most people shouldn't be too angry about it, but a lot of times people may not want to group with you again based on prior experience. If you run into these people, try to explain that hey, you've fixed a few things and would like another shot.
If not, hey, it's a game.

You blew up a trap box? So what. I blow up trap boxes once in a while too, in quests I've done before. Sometimes I forget to put my disable goggles on, and blow the epic von 2 traps. It happens. Certainly it happens at low levels too. I wouldn't fret it much. As long as you are clear that you are new to the quest and aren't trying to screw the party out of a valuable party slot, I don't think most people will blacklist you.

Now, if you don't say anything, and try to figure it out all by yourself, then I might be inclined to think "*** is this nub doing" and get frustrated. If you simply say, I have not done this quest, can you point me to a trap box, or help me navigate a bit, then instead of frustrated I might laugh a little here and there, and take a few minutes to help someone out.

Box blowing is common at certain levels. Don't stress it; just make sure you have good googles for your level & keep your disable topped off completely.

But, when the dice gods are out to get you, you will get got. (Love that grammar!)

Nothing makes me smile more than a rogue blowing a trap box. I play only with my 2 best friends, one is the rogue, one is a sorc and I play a fighter. When the box blows I know I get to grab the sorcs crystal lol.

LOL, don't sweat it man. I had been lazy on my Barb/Rang/Rog and hadn't kept my trapsmithing gear up to snuff. I was running Von 1-4 on elite for XP and favor with some guildies/friends. We're in VON4 at the shrines and me and another character (Rog/Monk) are disabling the traps. I blew mine, leaving the lethal force trap in tact.

It was kind of embarrassing, especially since I knew better. I got a lot of well-deserved (but good natured) ribbing for it. It was pretty funny! My buddy was the most vocal "Well that's just greeeaat! Oh, look at me, I can do DPS AND TRAPS! Reroll!"

Point is, it happens and if you are new people will be very understanding of that. If not, well then they've identified themselves as the types of players you should probably avoid.
