Default Trap the Soul by Foes

Read in DDO Forum threads: all the spells casted by heroes, may be casted by Foes. So anyone had been attacked by the spell Trap the Soul? If yes what happened?

The spell says it's not a kill effect, then a Deathblock item can or can't negate the spell? Ty.

I think in reality, the mobs prefer specific spells. They usually have about 3 they seem to choose from.

That is, quests tend to be fairly predictable because you can expect the mobs to cast specific kinds of spells. The ramp in Missing in Action, with the warforged up top is notorious for Sleet Storm, for example.

Casters in Proof is in the Poison make heavy use of acid arrow. The list goes on and on.

I've never seen anyone cast Trap the Soul.

Sure the enemy casters could cast it, but they forgot the very expensive components.

And yes it would bypass deathblock/deathward

Trap the soul is a will save, with a SR check. Fortunately, no mobs I am aware of use it. I would actually like Turbine to implement it, too.

    Sell your soul to Arraetrikos.

I would think that if the devs do ever implement the spell then the Boots of Anchoring may be modified to prevent it. If it can anchor you to a plane, it should be able to anchor your soul to your body.

I've never seen Trap the Soul cast by any NPC..I don't think any casters even -have- it on the NPC end.

Honestly I'd love to see the Dev's implement some enemy casters that actually do cast that spell. Probably just my opinion but It would be nice to have some very real threat to PC health beyond just straight damage.

I think it would be awesome to see this 800 Hp Barb suddenly become a soulgem.

'Essence of Rage' or something like that

It's kind of in the same category as Dispel and Disjunction. Spells that enemy casters would, if they were smart, spam constantly. I think Turbine realizes that those kinds of spells are only "fun" in moderation, so they don't do that.

But if a Character is trapped by Trap the Soul, it's not dead. Can the Character recall?

Other way, what happens to critters when a Sorcerer/Wizard cast successfully this spell?

This is probably another reason why it's not used on us. Who cares what happens to a mob's soul.

While its not a "death effect", in ddo its coded to just cause the target to die, same as any other death only a soul gem drops to the group. (basically meaning its an instadeath that bybasses deathward)

So if it happened to you all that would happen is you would die. Mobs don't cast the spell so its nothing to worry about, but when used in the PVP pit it doesn't even create a soul gem, the player just dies and moves on with their life (I know kinda ironic)

Because on Spell resistance fail, on Will save fail and the charges of a Pale Lavender Ioun Stone may be spent as we are targetted with many spells we can't deny death then.

Maybe worry about it when mobs actually use this spell..... but even then then its just a death, take a res and move on with your life. If you are permadeath and scared of it then it'll be easy to avoid quests that have it if mobs EVER actually end up using this spell.
