Only bother with binding for items of lv 2 and higher. (lv 1 don't have minimum level so binding don't even work right)
Besides lv 1 items and are either bound already or useless.

Also note that once you get the hang of the game and begin to level up faster you will outlevel your weapons so you can let them wear a little, to then sell them to help buy new ones.

But you can't sell damaged items...they have to be repaired first.

Just something else to help calm your mind. As far as I've ever noticed, even when an item is down to zero and "broken", once I repair even IF it takes any permanent damage, it's only 1 point of permanent damage.

So if it had a max durability of 40, I wear it out on slimes to 0/40, and it does take permanent damage when I repai it (which bound to character items don't), it will only go down to 39/39. If it gets damaged->repaired->perma damaged again, it'll be 38/38. It takes a while to actually wear an item down (weapon/armor/other worn gear) with permanent damage so far that it's dangerous to carry around anymore.

And for the first...probably at least 10 levels, you'll level up fast enough that you can get rid of items that are permanently damaged long before that perma-damage becomes a problem.

I can't say much past level 10-12, because in the 13 months I've played, I keep getting alt-itis and starting a new concept, so haven't gotten anything past 13.

Have fun, and welcome to the game!

Edit to respond to: "But you can't sell damaged items...they have to be repaired first"
That's true, but a lot of the gear you get on Korthos is starter gear, which you can't sell at all anyway. Repaired or not. You just have to destroy it.

Only fragile items such as scrolls and potions can be destroyed in your backpack.

no min level items are treated as being level 20 for the stone of change binding, so it takes (20^2) or 400 fragments.

That weapon is bound to character when you get it, so no perm damage.

Also, for the OP, hang on to that until you get a batter fire or acid weapon as it will shut off the regen on things like trolls and ogre mages.

You cannot sell an item that is damaged (ie. Durability 20/40) to a NPC. However, you can sell an item to a NPC that has had its permanent Durability reduced via damage (ie. same item as above but now 36/36... sellable).

It's worth pointing out that equipment (at least weapons and armor) with the Starter property costs significantly more to repair than equipment without it.

I don't know if it was confirmed by developers or not, but it was confirmed by calculus, and calculus is much more reliable. You can find the derivation here.

Wait...so permanent damage means only damage on durability? I thought it was also maybe on damage/attack roll...that changes a lot, it is much less serious that what i thought! Please confirm. thanks

Permanent damage means only damage on durability and monetary value. Neither permanent nor temporary damage have any effect on damage, to-hit, procs, etc.
