    Default First GS 2 hander?

I've been building myself a new barbarian hate tank, all STR and CON, specifically to lay the beat down on Suulo, Horoth, Arretrikos, and their ilk. I spend most of my end game time in Amrath and the Vale... What would be the ideal initial GS weapon for me? To me, it seems my falchions crit like crazy, but my GAxes give me the largest numbers... GSwords are middle of the road I suppose... I know this may be a can or worms, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

So which should I make first?

With Frenzied Berserker, you'll only realize the multiplier on a roll of 19 or 20.

I use a GS MinII Great Axe to hate tank elite Horoth. Couldn't be happier with it.

Falchions become the best 2 handed weapons past a fairly easy to achieve + to damage threshold. If you want to min max you can go that route but the difference between the weapons isn't all that big to be honest. You can go for what looks best to you.

Either way you go you want a mineral 2.

Falchions become the best against trash that isn't autocrit, at end game that's a minority of situations.

Make a Min II GA to break DR and last you till you get epic weapons.

Against epic trash that is auto crit why would you even use a min 2 GA. Go to the Auction House buy a shocking burst of maiming great axe for pennies. Add icy burst to it. Better than or equal to a min 2 GA against auto crit trash. Costs no ingredients.

Actually I did the smart thing and built my last Barb to TWF with Khops and use Picks for autocrit.

The mobs don't start out as auto-crit so your going to use that AH great axe until they are auto-crit'd, losing DPS and not equal to Min2.

OP: Go Min 2 of whatever, it's all purpose. multi-functional (epic, elite)

click it and forget about it (unless of course you need to select insta-kill weapons).

IMO the cost of making a GS is too big to mąkę one just 'till you get epic weapons'. EGA is easy enough to make, and I'd stay using plain metalline of PG if you mean to use EGA as a DR breaker eventually. I'd side with these suggesting lit2... but it's not what OP asked is it?

If you plan on running epics a lot, great axe is a no brainer because of x3 crits and trash being autocritted a lot on epics. Actually it'll serve good enough in non epics as suggesting it as a first - and only - GS one needs to make. Then comes EGA for DR (and on normal with harry's 15 dr lit2 GA won't be too shabby also), and eventually an epic sword of shadows. With the new auguments it's gonna bypass DR...

I'd go with a LitII Falcion then use the Epic Antique Greataxe for the Boss's and there DR

I'd start with a maul, assuming you already have improved slash.

    Two really nice options:

Positive tier 2. Raise dead clicky, lots of extra damage for skellies & stuff.
    - Always a good, cheap choice to make while you're waiting to get all your larges.

Mineral tier 3. Golem whacker, dr bypasser, and improved critical.

Going with a slashing mineral isn't ideal IMO because of that awesome Antique Great Axe you can pick up at 20, and all the other weapons you can't drop Improved Crit for.

    Very very true:

A search will give you a variety of options: some will say an Epic SoS great sword... some will say an Antique Great axe... some will say a Min II green steel great axe or sword.... some will say a Lit II green steel great axe or sword .... some will say a good burst, holy green steel maul with a raise dead clicky (no large mats to do so)

Some will bombard with a wall of numbers, letters, spreadsheets, averages, comparisons, contrasts.....

Generally speaking, and the time tested and true formula since time and memorial for barbs:

    Dwarves - GAxe
    Elves - Falchon (spl?)
    Warforged - Whatever you wish.

    Start with:

Lit II Greataxe for normal boss runs, trash, and auto-crit situations (epics).
Buy a DR breaker from the AH for the odd elite run. Doesn't matter which unless you run elite a lot.

    Then:

Craft Antique Greataxe to replace auction house breaker.
Craft eSOS to replace Lit II. It'll be a while.

Default Min II all the way.

For your first GS axe - what I did - capped pure frenz barb and loving end game - I've never hit a situation where I wished I had a different weapon. I'll grind an esos and make a Lit II one day for this toon but you can't go past a Min II imho.

    I'd go:
    • 3x Earth Greataxe for trash
    • LitII Falchion for DPS
    • Metalline of Pure Good (any type), for hard/elite bosses.\
    • MinII when you feel like you have too many ingredients.

Hi all I have a similar question

I am an elven pally 2h-er, the type that got no love at all recently
I usually use falchion with those elven dmg enhancements
And I have boss beaters (any metalline, +5 metalline of pure good GA, Holy sword)
I usually use sth like holy burst/cold burst/force crit falchion, or thundering/pure good

But I recently feel like to boost my DPS and so may want to make a GS falchion
what kind of combination/burst/double shards u feel is the best for me?

    ty all

P.S. I have improved crit slashing too

Could not agree more with most of this, except instead of Metalline of Pure Good, look to carry Holy Silver, Holy Cold Iron and Adamantine Blunt. Holy Silver just does more damage than MoPG.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

    Good point sirgog.
Metalline of Pure Good is pretty much the "base" of randomly generated boss-DR beaters. There are much better, including Holy+silver.

Personally, I believe that it makes more sense to craft a LitII before a MinII, since LitII does more damage in most scenarios in game. and MoPG can work as a replacement for your MinII.
