    Default Curse you healers

For making me enjoy playing one so much! I have a love/ hate relationship with healers. I love them for keeping my lame duck rogue alive (19 with only 385 hp, I know, I know, SHHHH thats not the point), and also for raising my rogue when I die trying to do kobold assault on hard (those guys hit HARD!)

I have tried making clerics, over and over again, and they suck. I hate them. Absolutely no AC, no defense, and the spells are boring. I always played a drow (they're just that cool!) and numerous times found myself facedown in a chunky pile of my own bodily fluids when I attempted soloing.

I get on the forums to insult other clerics to fill the empty void in my soul, and get told that I'm "doing it wrong". Perhaps wearing a robe and having 12 CON is not how a cleric should be made. Perhaps healing and buffing should be priorities. Perhaps 8 STR is a little low.

    And then I got FVS.

It's amazing. I boost his STR and CON along with WIS and CHA, completely ignoring the other stats, S&B it, pick up heavy armor proficiency (may be wrong but if so I dont wanna be right) and so far am a force to be reckoned with. My rogue is still far and away my favorite character to play (I hate the word "toon"), but very few times have I experienced as great of a rush as keeping an entire party alive by myself. I see low CON, horribly thrown together parties not as the bane of my existence and pure flame-bait, but as a pure challenge to my skills. Have I always perservered? No. Has it always been fun? Absolutely. Nothing gives you more satisfaction than taking a lvl 5 wizzy with 45 HP (had to be, cure light wounds was healing for TOO much) who refused to use spells, the bard with 60 HP who never played songs and also didn't heal anyone (including himself) to the fighter with 18 STR and 10 CON (I asked him) and keeping them alive through the carnival series. Nothing gives you a bigger rush than solo healing Tear of Dhakaan with 3 first timers and no rogue.

Curse you awesome healers for being right!

    That is all.

    Default ugh it's awesome

I don't lead kill counts, or rarely do, but I contribute greatly to deaths in the party, once I realized no matter how many times you tell a party to hold for buffs and they still fan out I learned to buff at chests (since EVERYONE has to stand together to hit chest), I learned to watch HP bars and see who needed most help and who needed me to follow (hint: it's not always the same person), When I found out that even though the sp count is lower sometimes it's cheaper to throw out the cure serious (like when an ogre is descending); there's so much to keep track of it's mind boggling but at the same time exhilarating. Learning how to manage cooldowns (I SO need quicken spell, but felt heavy armor was a gooderer way to go at least in the short term) and when to swap to wands and start spamming healz, not to mention the idea that you almost NEVER get turned down for an LFG no matter what the quest, total class yallz.

I still have tons to learn. I have no idea how I am supposed to get to 75 AC or whatever you need to be to intim hounds or whatever (my DDO lingo is weak) as even with heavy armor and a sweet hairdo I only have 27 at level 8, any advice would be most helpful. I DID learn that even though a semi-competent healer (I am in no way competent yet) is still highly sought after I cannot be a complete ***** about it (I decided I would act how healers do when they join my lfgs and promptly got booted, and it was a good lesson learned), and also that sneak is a waste of a slot (I am wearing bright gold Command armor, prolly not gonna be very transparent).

Healers have to pay WAY more attention in the game than anyone else. If I'm looking for some mindless DDO entertainment, my cleric is the last class I need to be playing.

I'm glad you're enjoying your FvS, but seems as though you may have made some poor choices with your Clerics. Clerics can do so much more than what you've mentioned.

People have differing opinions, though and you seem to really be enjoying what you're playing, which is what it's all about. GL and have fun!

I've always felt the opposite as the group health bars give healers an aid in that part of their role that other classes don't have.

end game clerics have some fairly awesome things to offer. but i've just started my first fvs and in terms of leveling she's a bit easier. i can see myself soloing her up the levels more easily than a cleric i have that has no gear.

no concentration check for positve burst on a cleric (? need to check that) is a huge win.

    looking forward to 17 though

    I agree 100%.

I am a FvS-addict, and I am proud. And I am glad to have found someone who shares the same love the the axe-kicking and noob-healing combination of the FvS.

This has been my experience as well. As someone mentioned earlier - at times it can be exhilarating, but yeah, when I just want to do some killin', I switch to my TWF Ranger and just concentrate on hitting whatever bad guy happens to be in front of me (after giving everyone appropriate resists and barkskin, of course - Clerics tend to like it when I do that )

    Default I have a level 20 FS

which I am really enjoying. Total healing spec. No melee skills at all.

Funny but last night while doing Weapons shipment runs I kept leading the kill count by 3 to 1. I was dual wielding vorpal longswords. There was a S&B Pali and a Monk who both didn't get into double digits and I topped over 30 kills every run which I though was funny because I was only swinging swords because I was bored. We had 3 other healers in the party ... all going for baubles. They asked if I was melee spec heh. On one Elite run I was missing 50% of the time and still got 30 plus kills to the next highest being single digit.

It was a very good example of why Vorpals are best for trash.

But to the OP ... yes FS are very fun to play and when you hit 20 you will really really enjoy them.
