It's all about first impressions. If he would have worded his post a little differently instead of attacking when he should have waited I bet the responses he could have gotten would have been more helpful.
So instead of being helpful in the way you wanted it to be, it's helpful to others in the sense of what not to do or say now in case they ever see themselves in his position.
I think most people agree with you a pure healing cleric is a waste, just using any character class for a single use is a waste in general though.
Then you haven't spent a lot of time in game with the vets of this server. Most of the vets that I have run with have been quite helpful. On the forums though is a totally different story. I think that is true though of any forum. If people come and make inflammatory comments they can expect to get burned. Just takes a single comment to make a thread go up in flames.
Isn't that like saying that the OP should have waited till he was calmer to post then?
I don't come on these forums waiting for clarification if a thread is just bad grammar, someone who don't know english, or a 'kid'. You post in an english forum know the language, or state it's not your first language.
BTW English isn't my first language either but I do just fine.
If you want to know why...
I agree that the cleric is at fault as well. That said if the post was "I can't understand people these days. We were looking for a healer. 1 joined but refused to heal. We had some pots and tried fighting 1 mob at a time. but we eventually ran out of self healing while the cleric still had a full blue and we wipe"
What would be the reaction?
If you want to know why...
In case you didn't already notice, my posts that end with must NEVER EVER, under any circumstances, be taken seriously.

I'm a Battle-cleric, i heal and fight all the time effectively, i generally take one of two roles though depending on the group,
Role 1: group gets how to be self-sufficent like they should be able to do with ease on any normal difficulty quest and i can fight with the DPS' focusing on combat and a little on heals when needed.
Role 2: Group has doesn't get sulf sufficent taking on many mobs at the same time and losing hp quickly (The same goes for any barb/monk/ranger/rogue who is squishy and refusing to do anything but take aggro and lose masses of hp very quickly) i just sit back and throw SP at them and use a few offensive spells, these groups often fail quickly, but on short quests i generally follow through with it.
But most of the time it falls between the two and depending on the situation i switch roles frequently. it seems to work well and noone complains.
Dude, that's my guildleader.
No matter how many times I've built a favored soul, hybrid or otherwise, I cannot match what he can squeeze out of a build. Simply put, he's got a mojo for these things.
As to the OP:
I stopped caring about the time you mentioned you were a ranger and didn't bother keeping yourself up out of combat. I've been party healer with players that behave as you do. And that is why you find yourself waiting inordinate amounts of time waiting for a 'healer' in a quest where you don't even need one.
There was a reason that cleric gave up on you guys. Try to learn from it and get better.
I know I coming late to that thread (sleepless in the middle of the night over hear) ... so anyhow I will try to add some points that I missed being mentioned and that may help:
1. If you can afford it get the Red Fens pack. You get there for Level 7 several nice set items including 'Vulkoor's Might' and 'Sirens Ward' = +4 CON, +7 AC, +1 Saves, 75% Fort. +2 Damage
2. Always try to get as soon as possible a Fortification item especially for quests like that where you may be ganked up by Trolls with their triple attack. And if that mean that your lvl 20 Wizard has to get one at the AH or the Brokers in the Market.
3. If you are cursed (a pizza over your head) drink a potion as this will either limit or block heals. So not only get some Heal pots.
4. Never expect to get healed even if you have a Cleric in the group (may have a disconnect, die in a trap, no mana left, cleric not like you, is afk, ...), but always have a stock of Potions/Wands in your pocket. Make it to your routine to refill those stock regularly to not run out of them mid quest. If you always have maybe 100 heal pots in your Shortcut bar, never let them go down to 50.
Last but not least really try one time to roll a Cleric as it may indeed change your point of view. The first time I rolled one I noticed what a hell of a job that is. At level 4 for example with your mini cure wounds (1d6+2) you just have enough SP to buff the whole party with resist fire, shield of faith, bless and aid. You will suddenly notice how fast that blue bar can be empty. Then you have two choice, either you start drinking pots or you will start to conserve the SP for the hard times.
Also for the first time it may be hard to not only watch the mobs and where to go but as well to scan regularly the health bar of the players. You then as well will notice that some player capable of soloing a quest suddenly get reckless as soon as they have a cleric in a party. Its like a switch in the behavior and this player even not really notice that. If they then even not drink a single pot a Cleric even more hold the mana back. Needless to say that Elite mean that you can use a shrine only one time. Compared to Hirelings that just chuck pots at 50% SP, a Cleric player will most likely not top you off after a fight if you 'only' lost 20% of your HP.
So in case that Cleric was a new player that may even still be unfamiliar with the class and the quest, not knowing how much shrines are there but that they are only one time usable and trying to keep some SP for the end fight and noticing that even capable of using wands not using them that your Cleric will indeed start t refuse to heal.
