Why do u Play a Cleric if u dont want to heal?

ok I read 8 pages of this thread (no more power for more), my few thoughts.

I don't see healbots as usless party slot. I see BattleDivine/DivineSpellcaster who do not heal as wasted party slot. I like Divine in my party because I wan't to make quest low comsumables quenching. Don't mind to drink few potions (curse / resto + few healing pots), but don't expect me to keep myself full healed all the time on my pure fighter.
I don't expect divine to use consumables. And I don't think healer should use consumable wands if someone don't try to keep himself up with potions.
Well to OP hierling Healbots would be propably more usefull for SC than most buff/healbotts builds.
At satursday I made some runes "for lost favor" on my fighter <Lv 12, so Lv 10 it was only -10% exp (decend)>. I runed all the content up to lv 8 on elite that i was missing (this Include SC hard/elite, Taming the flames, and Caverns of Corromar). I just grabed guild buffs (super usefull 20 fire resistance buff), cleric and runed most of it without problems (TtF cleric showed his stupidity and died 2 times, and Wiped on last excavation site because hierling died, and i got Stuned/Paralysed constantly). SC was realy one of the easier one to solo (thanks to lolable dungeon scaling -> duud fire elies (from TtF) hit me max for few point of dmg, but in full party it is more than 10 per hit).

The 'newb' gear from 4 years ago is different then the 'newb' gear from now. Back then it was masterworks. Now there are acid touch and flametouch of awesome masterworks and so forth.
And as you said if you played smart. That's what it is all about, play smart it won't matter about your equipment.

the exploiter example you used wasn't a good one as they are a dps build that can self heal in combat if they want to.

Either I wasn't clear or you misread. That was my point exactly.

I agree that no one with a brain thinks your barb should self heal all through a quest.

I would hope not but the previous person's post I replied to said if you need a healer in a quest you're gimped, which is plain stupid.

You guys can give him advice about using wands and potions, playing carefully to not pull too many mobs at once, etc.

But calling him a gimp, and saying how it easy it is with no advice is not useful

You guys all seem to forget what it was like when we first started..... SC elite WAS tough... especially the end-fight and the undead fight... I've wiped there before... I bet most of you have wiped there once before...

I learned how important posion proof was from that quest... That cloudkill was deadly...

Good luck out killing everyone at level 8 with your offensive caster. I agree that you can CC almost anything, but you won't outkill a melee.

I'm totally at work right now, routing inventory all over the state for a client who really isn't worth my time, but still pays so I kinda have to. Kinda hard to cause drama when I'm doing paperwork.

A healing only cleric is a waste of a party slot. A cleric who never heals isn't playing the class correctly either. It's more of a determine the best use of the SP at the time. Sometimes healing really is the answer

Depends on how many enemies you can group together.

A good melee type will out DPS a divine caster against most bosses, but there's no way that a melee will out DPS a divine caster with BB against a swarm of bad guys.

While I agree that a pure healing Cleric is a waste of a slot, I find it absolutely horrendous that the vets in this game are such ********. I read a lot of responses from people that I have grown to respect as honest posters on these forums... It is times like these that I wish I could neg rep people.

In closing thank god I am on Orien... We are at least somewhat friendly to new players
