Why do u Play a Cleric if u dont want to heal?

I Would Like TO tell u the whole story coz but my english is too poor and i think ive used the wrong words in thread start i could do it in German
But Well Il give it a try :Nearly the same like in start BUT we did not wipe after 3 or 15 mins everything was well we had a good party good dps and a good caster only the cleric meleed only and didnt heal but we didnt need it atm after we were done with this 1st boss (a firegiant or something) 1 party member went afk .Then we continued and still didnt recive a heal ( and yea it was also our bad coz we didnt wand heal and pot heal).So then another person wen afk and then we were at the blackbone skelettons at the dimension gate and at this place we wiped coz i didnt heal my self and the cleric didnt heal me ,we wiped at the end of the dimension gate at the boss. And the cleric said to me im a tool and a fool and then i kicked him out of the party while he was dead then we summoned a pocket healer but i gtg. Ask Whittly,xmusex,and claryon and coldear if the story is true and il tell u it is true

Ok...this sounds alot better than the angry rant you started out with. In this case, if you got all the way to the blackbones and the cleric was not at least keeping people up in the middle of combat, then he was probably just being a tool. Personally, I would not have gone on to the blackbones when you are out of wands and/or pots, 2 people are afk, and the cleric that signed up as a healer is not healing. At that point, I'd either wait out the other 2, or perhaps reform with a pocket cleric. It still stands that based on your previous comments, you may have been a bit abrasive, which is probably why you got that response from the cleric. I am still kind of curious as to the cleric's side of the story, but c'est la vie....

On the positive side, hopefully you learned not to forget wands and pots, and that a LFM looking for healers is most likely not the best way to fill the group quickly and/or with a competent healer.

At least you have the stones to admit when you may have been wrong or done something in haste, in my experience the boards are just not the place to vent. People will eat you alive by breaking down and mock/insult every choice you made (I certainly am not innocent here, just sayin it's what happens).

I know that just by the fact that you have no issues admitting when you made a mistake I would not mind running into you in a pug in the future. It says alot for your character.

My advice when it comes to venting is to talk/yell to yourself.... because that is what I do... and I am clearly sane...? ok maybe not.. maybe write angry letters without sending them?

But whatever you do, these boards just are not the place to rage vent. You will get torn apart.

A pure healer is a waste of a party spot. And you should be able to run that on elite in 30 minutes without a healer unless you are a party of gimps.

So every single build without enough self healing to run quests on elite at level without a healer is a gimp? I guess it's time to roll up that exploiter.

Do you guys really not get that? If I wanted to wind up a bunch of Clerics having just read the "LFM need healer" thread then this is precisely how I'd do it.

This is just my view of clerics/favored souls that I have earned by playing them.

I have a level 20 TR favored soul, a level 20 cleric, and a level 13 favored soul. Those are my credentials, some have more experience, some have less.

During a fight I run forward and attack, it is fun to melee. Even if my character is not doing a lot of damage (usually the opposite though), it is something and it is fun. I keep an eye on the hp of the entire party, when somebody needs a heal they get it.

If somebody feels the need to drink a pot, I don't like it. I am the parties healer, they can save their pots for an emergency. If they have abilities of their own to heal, that is different I don't mind the help.

If it really hits the fan, I will make a choice. Drop back and start concentrating completely on healing, or if I feel it is more efficient, use my mana to kill the mobs. Usually some combination of the two. The key to a divine class is about flexibility, not getting stuck into one role.

As for the cost of healing, I just don't get it. I never buy pots, I use what I find or are given to me. I do buy wands and scrolls, but 99% of the time the loot from the run pays for that. If you are going broke on your healer, there is something wrong.

I know opinions will vary, but this is just off the top of my head.

Dont post lfms looking for healers only, post them byoh ip. Make multiple runs dropping people who totally suck, and put the lfm back up. You will get a good healer. Course he may drop group after running with you if you cant be troubled to drink a pot or two after taking a couple hits

I'm not following your logic at all here. Pure cleric is fine. A cleric that does nothing but heal would be like a wizard that did nothing but haste. That's a waste of a party spot. And if you are suggesting a "trap busting" only build then yes, that is also a complete waste of a party space.

The logic is pretty simple unless you want to get into a debate on semantics. Ultimately, we’re talking about stereotypical roles. When someone says “pure healer” I think you know what they mean, just as when someone talks about a trap focused rogue. It would be a pretty impoverished perspective that tried to narrow these definitions down to just traps, no fighting or just the heal spell and never a buff or command.

In short, I don’t think anyone expects a cleric to only cast healing spells. What I think they expect when they ask for a pure healer is one that make party health a clear priority over engaging in melee. If you disagree then perhaps we need to establish some working definitions before any further exchanges.
