DDO and AC?

Yes and no. It seems like some missions in Amarath on elite, my main can stand there shouting, "are you not entertained!!!" and not get hurt for very much. i.e. the hall ways in sins when all the orthons and bearded devils "ambush" you every 10 steps. Then there are other missions where I sit there asking why a 85 ac isn't doing anything at all...espeically epic....and then crank that up to 90 while blocking with a 30 dr...and I am still getting cracked for 50 a shot repeatedly.

Certainly, there are *some* cases where AC does very little. Most examples that I hear, however, aren't true. DQ2 epic, for example. Despite having a 95+ AC in there, she still connects a fair amount. However... a "fair amount" is a far cry from "every swing". My AC build has about half the HP of my barb, but survives just as well... half (or so) of her swings miss.

Quikster, you're dead on about the grind, and that may be an important point to this perception problem. With no facts to back it up, I'd guess that more than half of those who try AC builds give up the chase before getting anywhere close to their desired gear. An AC build is not for someone who lacks the dedication required to properly equip it.

In epic really you can't get an useful AC.
In shavarath normal if you have 80+ AC you can stay safe.

You don't need anything like an 80 AC for it to be useful in Shavarath normal...

60 AC actually makes a big difference in Shavarath normal...

Yeah another example of "if it's not 100% uber it's 100% useless Forum based DDO playing... If you believe half the things you read some people say in general chat or on the forums you would come away thinking:

DDO is the hardest MMO evar!
PUG's are always a party wipe... ALWAYS!
Most people play DDO with a stopwatch and a cost/benefit resource sheet.
EVERYONE must min/max for teh uberzness or fail at "endgame"
There's such a thing as "an endgame"

As though endgame isn't pretty much just the point where content runs out and there's not much else to do besides make an alt, TR, or run the same quests you already did with 10x hit point, blanket immunity, mobs, for epic items that make it easier to run them some more...

I also think it's a **** shame that Pajama's make a much easier high AC build... It's a **** shame my DPS Pali is running around in a monk outfit... It's a **** shame my THF Cleric is best served in a wizard robe....

I guess that was directed at me, look the first page is people saying late game AC is useless and the second page is people saying, no that's not true it's just not "only get hit on a 20" uber... If I had 5 tps for every time that same basic thing happened on these forums (or in game chat) I'd own the store The rest were just examples of the same sort of Forum meta gaming and I got off on a tangent but got right back to AC afterward; So not really much of a derailing IMO.

DDO and AC

AC wont be back for awile I think. It was one of those things that used to be good. Then, I remmeber when there were so many people on the forums screaming "NERF this NERF that about the AC builds" saying they break the game, wop too powerful blah blah blah heard it all the time on here.

Well that devs heard it all and thank the crybabies for the results, lol

-Mobs can hit you without beating your Armor Class (Grazing hits)
-Endgame Mobs To-Hit is ridiculous
-Stat Dmg nerfed and epic mobs shrug it off
-Finesse made worthless with mobs ridiculously inflated HP
-Tempest attack speed nerf

they really kicked AC builds in the nuts with all that...exploiter builds in particular. so yeah I dont see AC making a comeback anytime soon.
