    Default Guild anti-theft device.

Simple suggestion so that all members of a Guild may access all Guild items without the possibility of theft.

Institute a method wherein Guild leaders and Officers can "tag" items to that specific Guild when they are placed within the Guild chest, and as long as said item is tagged it can not be sold by any method.

Of course, all items can be un-tagged by whom ever has the privilege to do so, and can then be sold as normal.

As a possible plat sink, this feature could cost a certain amount of plat to tag each item, based upon it's ML.

As a company revenue source - the feature itself can be sold via the DDO Store.

would they still be destoryable? or useable as components (epic scrolls n stuff).

might be not too trivial to code

Non destroy-able of course. And items should be usable of course...if the item to be upgraded by the Guild tagged material is ALSO Guild tagged.

Potions, spell components are so ridiculously cheap to purchase that tagging them would be cost prohibitive ( if the tagging feature costs plat to utilize)

    i like it.

however great a game ddo is, the guild and pvp systems are still crapy. i guess your anti theft system is just something the devs did not think about or just lazy to code.

My guild has all good people, and nothing has ever been stolen.

Wouldn't it be easier, just to not put an item in there if you care what happens to it?

Its a good idea, but might be very code intensive to implement. Something like a roster of who took/added what might be a decent temporary solution.

BTW, what is with the scary animation of the guild chest closing? I'm always worried about catching my fingers in it.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

Heres a suggestion. Dont invite thieves to your guild.

It doesnt take that long to get to know someone just a bit before giving them a guild invite.

    Blind invites have consequences.

So like a Bound to Account item, we would have Bound to Guild? That's an interesting concept. My guild recently had an episode where we would have benefited from this, but then again, don't put anything in you don't mind losing, as is common sense.

I don't know enough about programming to comment on the intensity of adding such a feature, but it would cut down on those rare times a new member enters, and within an hour you're back to 0 of 20 items in the chest. :P

I see where you're going with this, but I think it is ultimately the guild's responsibility to monitor its own applicants and members for trustworthiness.

And what about that rare individual that can BS you into letting them into the Guild, seem like a walking Saint, and then rob you blind ( as was their intent all along) I don't care how good your BS meter is, no one is infallible.

After all, the best thieves are the ones that no one knows they're thieves.

Exactly! but unlike BtA items the Guild leader could un-bind them when needed...and I'm thinking only the Guild leader could do this, as in my response to Impaqt a dedicated thief could take the time to smooze the leader into making them an officer.

if your recuitment policies remain rigid, no one can bs you into inviting them. my guild remains small due to our recruiting policy of having the need to run with an officer multiple times. this is to give us a clearer picture of the player
If you want to know why...

This could work as well - as simple as a drop-down on the Guild menu, or alongside the activity portion of the member screen.

And like I said, a dedicated thief could take the time to earn your trust...especially if the Guild they're trying to worm their way into is a well known one, with many high level members ( and thus more likely to have more high-plat gear available to it's members)

The best anti-theft device is simply guild screening.

What kind of items is your guild leaving in the chest that you're so concerned with theft? Spectral gloves? Metalline of PG Khopeshes? If someone puts something in the guild chest it means they're willing to part with it. If a guildy needs plat and feels like vendoring the item, that's fine too.

    EDIT:

A dedicated thief would lack the qualifications to get into any decent raiding guild. Joining a guild for the sole purpose of looting the chest is an immature and noob thing to do. Any such player would lack the skill, equipment, and know-how to actually get into a large established guild.

    Default No trust required

Just put items that you want to give away and when someone takes it then you can be happy that a guildy has some new gear. If someone takes all the stuff it's not a big deal cause it's not that important (i'm not saying put garbage in the chest but stuff that is no use to you).

To me that defeats the whole purpose of being able to gear your Guild. I WANT my Guildies to be geared a sbest as they possibly can, but NOT have the Guild as a whole suffer because of one a-hole snatching the horde.

Or someone that takes their RP'ing of a Rogue a little TOO seriously.

There are literally hundreds of targets for this kind of theif in the game. If you are careful, they will move on.

Don't know about your guild but we more often have more stuff than people to take it. Mind you we are a small guild that doesn't get new members very often so if our chest was raided it would be filled quickly again anyways.

Altho I do agree with you in that if majority of the guild is under-geared then yeah you don't want someone ninja your loot.
