Exclamation When tripped, sneak attack should be granted.

A rogue gets their sneak attack on any enemy that has been denied their dexterity bonus. When an enemy is tripped, they lose their dexterity bonus. Though it says they suffer -4 AC due to being tripped; my guess is that Turbine never bothered to go into that much detail of removing their dex bonus and just gave a -4 penalty instead.

Because of this, whenever an enemy is tripped, your sneak attack damage should apply and currently it does not.

And yes, I know that DnD != DDO, but this is just a silly little thing that Turbine should easily be able to fix.

The prone status doesn't cause someone to be flatfooted (prone to sneak attacks) in the 3.5 rules.

    Prone

The character is on the ground. An attacker who is prone has a -4 penalty on melee attack rolls and cannot use a ranged weapon (except for a crossbow). A defender who is prone gains a +4 bonus to Armor Class against ranged attacks, but takes a -4 penalty to AC against melee attacks.
While Turbine didn't do the full set of prone as per the rules (ranged attacks should have trouble hitting a prone target and prone targets are still capable of actions) they did get the aspect of not losing their dexterity bonus correct.

Hmm, I guess that must have been an error on my part for forgetting about this then.

Though, in all seriousness, I don't see how you should be able to keep your dex bonus while prone as it is harder to maneuver around. Perhaps take only half your dex bonus than full? But then again, those would be special house rules not fit for DDO.

Nevertheless, I can see now why rogues shouldn't get their SA against prone targets.
