    Default The Can Opener - WF THF (12 Ftr, 6 Barb, 2 Rogue) with a Barb pastlife

    I'm looking to design a fighter based character that takes advantage of my barbarian past-life. As I already have a Min II greataxe, the Epic Antique Greataxe and one shard away from my eSoS so I'm looking to stay a THF character.

    So far this is probably the most well rounded build I've designed. Kensai II and FB 1 for DPS that will be close to the top of the pact (with an eSoS), rogue for full trap skills, full UMD, a bit extra sneak damage and evasion (though I have my doubts about my reflex save being high enough to make it useful). As I'm sure some one will point out this build is heavily influenced by the Blitz build.

    Please feel free to suggest any tweaks that could be made.

    STATS:
    STR = 64 [18 Starting (see below for the rest)]
    DEX = 10 [10 Start]
    CON = 44 [16 Start +3 (Tome), 6(Item) 3(Exc.), 2(Rage Spell), 2 (Yugoloth), 8(Rage), 4(Madstone)]
    INT = 24 [16 Start + 2 (Tome)+6 item]
    WIS = 12 [6 Start + 2 Tome +6 Item]
    CHA = 8 [6 Start +2 Tome]

    My main questions with this build is:

    A. Can I get a mid-30's reflex save to make evasion useful
    B. How does the DPS of this build compare to a pure fighter (I want the fighter past-life)
    C. Would I be able to get a high enough UMD to reliably use heal scrolls with a bit of item juggling? Currently the only +UMD item I have is the epic Big Top.

    Wait a bit longer and go Half Orc for better results.

    I have versions of this build that I have swapped around.

    A. Can I get a mid-30's reflex save to make evasion useful

    No - you are looking at 28 or so. I went dwarf (+4) and more DEX (+3) to get high enough.

    B. How does the DPS of this build compare to a pure fighter (I want the fighter past-life)

    Should beat a pure fighter in most situations.

    C. Would I be able to get a high enough UMD to reliably use heal scrolls with a bit of item juggling?

    Rage + Heal Scroll = Bad - Dont bother.

    Not with 10 starting dex you won't. Moar Dex! You can get a burst of +6 reflex if you use your Improved Uncanny Dodges (which you should)

    B. How does the DPS of this build compare to a pure fighter (I want the fighter past-life)

    Hard to say. No comment.

    C. Would I be able to get a high enough UMD to reliably use heal scrolls with a bit of item juggling? Currently the only +UMD item I have is the epic Big Top.

    Getting to 40+ UMD with items should be no problem provided you max your UMD ranks.

    Items to get:
    +6 Charisma skills greensteel item
    Golden cartouche
    Epic big top (which you have already)
    Head of good fortune or epic item with +2 luck.
    +6 charisma item (anything will do)

    Indeed a half-orc version of this would be better but to say it's AP starved is an understandment! LOL
    That being said I do have a Half-orc version of this build as well... better DPS but less skills and a bit less HPs

    I'm doing the WF version mostly because it's going to take me a long time to save up enough TP to buy half-orc at the ridiculous 1295 TPs it's going to cost.

    BTW Does anyone with a good grasp on how to calculate DPS want to tell me whether this or a pure WF kensai fighter would have a higher DPS (Assuming both have a eSoS)?

    Using standard 5 minutes:

    Fighter - 534
    Can Opener with SA - 489
    Can Opener without SA - 472

    As it has FB I instead of Kensei III it does more damage against 50% and 100% fort targets.

    Also when this split was originally put on the forums (by Monkey_Archer) it was called the Archon.

    Thanks for the breakdown Consumer

    In regards to your latter comment... Yes this build is very similiar to the Archon and Blitz builds. The main difference is the extra intelligence that allows you to get full trapping skills and UMD with this build as well.

    Besides it's VERY difficult to make a good build now-a-days that isn't similiar to something posted in the last 4+ years. LOL
