Default The ability to rez your friends!

is a very important one that all players should try to obtain if possible.

You should also be prepared to self heal if needed.

I have seen several quests fail recently just because a cleric went down and no one else (including me. ) had the ability to raise him.......and also seemed to lack any ability to heal themselves at all.

It's almost humerous to watch a bunch of lvl 20's red bars, slowly wittle away to nothing....but it's no fun to fail just because a cleric dies or runs out of mana.

Anyway, I'll be looking at ways to get as many of my chars as possible a way to raise in a pinch....

My first VON raid most of the group wiped, including the 2 clerics, we defeated the dragon but only 2 of us were left alive, and neither of us had the ability to raise the others so they could loot the chest. That's when I found out you couldn't use cakes in raids, LOL.

I've tried farming for the ring of ancestors without any luck, but just 10 shards from the Subterane will get you a gem with a 1 shot raise dead.

That is the main reason I try to hunt for the Ring of the Ancestors out of one of the Titan prereqs on my non-umd meelee. Get a raise clickie and since I typical have good aligned characters it fits right in for me.

Ring of ancestors is nice if you can get it, and if you are good aligned.

UMD is critical for anyone who can pull it off (at a minimum rogues, bards, sorcs, and anyone else with a chr focus, I'm looking at you!) and raise dead scrolls are pretty cheap.

For all the rest, A pos-pos item or weapon should be the first thing you consider making in the shroud. There are a lot of good solid items and weapons you can make pos-pos and it gives you a raise dead clickie. For example my fighter really enjoys his Holy-Goodburst maul when undead smashing. Especially against skellis it outperforms his T3 dual shard Min II Falchon so its still of great use.

I know...for new players that sounds like it takes you away from that RadII/LitII/MinII you are drooling over, but you will have MORE than enough T1/T2 ingredients to build both the T1/T2 of a pos-pos and the T1/T2 of your weapon/item of choice later before you get the T3 ingredients you will end up needing.

Especially if someone is running high level raids or epics, there should be no excuse not to raise. It is fairly easy/cheap to make a Pos/Pos Greensteel item.

I don't really expect new players who just got to 20 be able to raise, but then again i don't expect them in my raids/epics. For me at least, bottom line is you should have either UMD, a clickie, or both if you are running epics or high level raids.

A Double Positive item is ridiculously easy to craft.

the Planar shard turn in was also mentioned. but should be repeated because most folks completely ignore those turn in except for the bags.

Being able to have a good chance to UMD a raise dead scrol isnt all that hard either

    11 Ranks
    3 Delaras Necklace
    1 Luck
    4 Greater Heroism
    2 (14 Charisma)
    ---
    21

that right there gives you 45% chance to use a Raise dead scroll

I don't consider Raise Dead scrolls as cheap.

But by the time you are high enough to UMD one, you should have enough money to carry a few on you.

And a Pos/Pos wep is easy enough to get for most players.

Planar Shard turn ins are a posiblitity. Saving up for a large bag doesn't seem that important when you are high enough lvl to be getting a lot of shards anyway.

It's just part of being a professional adventurer.

Showing up at the door with a Kopesh and some HP is nice, but you need to be able to help out in other areas when needed too.

A related subject is other equipment to keep yourself alive when things go bad.
    Like fire resist. Blindness pots....etc.

But just getting yourself to the end of the quest is not enough IMO. You need to get your whole party to the end and to their loot too.

I agree with the above but for anyone that doesn't know how to get planar shards, here's some info.

For those not in the know, Planar Shards drop mostly in the Subterrane which is part of the Vale of Twilight pack if you are free to play.

Beginning at level 14 you can enter the Subterrane and there are explorers, rares and two raids available. One of the rares is farmed quite regularly and his name is Garamol. You can find a lot of groups for this and will usually be seen with an LFM for an Icy run.

In the Subterrane when you kill mobs they will drop collectable bags. Most of the time these bags contain a planar shard. As stated above, you can turn in 10 planar shard to receive a one time use raise dead clickie. They are exclusive but very useful. You can also turn in 25 planar shards and receive a clickie with two charges of raise dead, this clickie is also exclusive.

Double positive returning throwing weapon. Gives you a constantly usable ranged attack, and a click of raise dead.
Kobold sentient jewel still hate you.
