It was actually TWO useless feats originally, as Stunning Fist was garbage. The appearance was all our screaming about TWO useless feats led them to finally fix whatever was keeping the feat DC bonus for stunning from working on the handwraps, finally making stunning fists a worthwhile feat.
o.O when was SF ever useless. On a high wis monk, i had nearly no issues stunning stuff in amrath. BEFORE stunning wraps worked on it.
How is it useless? Maybe if your a 'DUH PEE ESSS' str monk(who should just go be a barb already lol) it would not work as often as u would like, but on a high wis build it was ALWAYS viable.
Just like how on a 'ac' build CE is worthwhile. Just like how +1 to all saves is Always useful. Can go on. Monks do not get 'useless' feats, they all have use, just some less than others. But plenty of 'worthwhile' choices in that list.
And rangers shouldn't bish, they got full twf tree (+ Bonuses), bow str, multi shot, and (ugh) diehard PLUS favored enemy's for the small 'cost' of spring attack. 3 feats(that give 1 ac possibly 4 more if u tumble, and u never get the penalty for moving, yes, SMALL boosts but BOOSTS just the same) ... AND they get in exchange the full twf tree, bow str, multishot, etc?
Why bish?
It'd be like monks getting shintao for free 'if' they get stunning fist... Any shintao is gonna be high wis, any high wis monk is gonna get SF anyways...
I had no issues stunning stuff in amrath with NO stunning fist. Hence why it was useless (to me and most other monks). Any weighted handwrap stunned that stuff with a 5% chance. Pre TWF nerf that was one stun every 9 seconds in wind stance, unresistable. In order to make it a worthwhile feat they had to nerf the handwraps first, dropping them down to 3% with a fairly low DC save, and slowing the number of hits way down to boot.
