Breaking down old green steel

New items continue to come into the game that we change our builds around for and green steel items that were in their place become paperweights in our bank accounts as we craft them into new locations.

What I'm hoping for is sometime in the near future to have the ability to break your old green steel down for it's ingredients. Perhaps you lose all the shards & energy cells as the cost. I'd even be ok if like 25-50% of the ingredients didn't come back.... but some return on the investment of ingredients that we've put into these items that are collecting dust would be nice to see.

Any word on if something like this is in the works or can be sometime soon?

You have no idea how much I would love this. I JUST got done with my T3 cloak. Nothing too hard, just a 45 HP item with a few SS clickies. Then I went to Lammania and saw this awesome new cloak! But do I really want to regrind EVERYTHING? No thank you. My next two toons will be prepared, that's for sure, as I will not be making their cloak slot GS.

If not a deconstruct option, at least a transfer of the properties to a different blank.

I'm sure all the twf dwarfs going Horc arent looking forward to banking thier DA's and crafting new khopeshes.

Don't want them to be unbound.... That'd just be silly..... Just want them to have to ability to be deconstructed for even partial ingredient return.

If you don't know what an easy button is, don't use the term.

Greensteel items are currently a reward for beating the Shroud on Normal. If deconstruction is added - Greensteel items will remain a reward for beating... the Shroud on Normal.


The real easy button is the way you can make the same progress toward Greensteel items on Normal as you can on Hard and Elite.

... just like how some raid loots drops on normal as it would on elite? Should all raid loot only drop on hard or elite?

But I do agree... if you run shroud on normal, then only small mats should drop... and if you run it on elite, then only large mats should drop.

Green steel is awesome and should not be deconstructed in any way, shape, or form. Deconstructing a green steel item because its effects are no longer prefered, to me, is easy buttoning the concept of it all. Most vets that I know don't have this problem and generally have mats to spare to make the process easier each and every time they run shroud.

Now that is an idea!

Change it so small ingreds is the only thing that drops on normal, but from every chest.

Medium ingreds should only drop on hard.

And lagre ingreds only on elite. Now that would be cool
