Default Items that cast shield above lvl 1?

I have a couple of shield clickies that I use when I remember, but they are extremely unsatisfying. A 1 minute duration is woeful. I do use Divine Might on occasion, which also has that 1 min duration, but at least I don't need to deal with a) activating the item twice (once to put it on, once to activate) and b) take the time to put my normal item back on.

I've seen other spells with items with higher lvl effects. Barkskin, ProEnergy, etc. Are there any clickies or potions of shield with a longer duration than 1 minute? I've read up on various monk-splash AC builds that rely on them, and I can't imagine all of those people are dealing with a 1 min duration...

They use UMD to use 10 minute wands

Oof... so a non wiz/sorc who wants to use the shield spell either needs to live with the timer or have a UMD over 30?

I don't think my current toon will ever qualify. Maybe in another life...

You can also find level 5 wands of shield, which are a little easier to use.

If you have the necropolis packs or are a vip there is the silver flame trinket one. It requires that you get your trinket up to level 3, then complete the abbott raid and upgrade the silver flame necklace (is called trinket when handed to you at the start) and turns it into a silver flame amulet which you exchange for a armor of choice. The armor has a single clickie charge of night shield level 15 I think lsting 15 minutes. Will not augement ac, but will stop all force spells except chain missiles and augments your saves if you do not have a +4 or higher resistance item.

My toon is a clonk, so Nightshield is easy enough, its the 4 AC from shield I'm looking for.

I planned on TR'ing my toon into a more traditional clonk (he's more melee focused now, and drow as I haven't unlocked 32pointers yet)... but I was thinking UMD wasn't particularly necessary.

    Guess I was wrong....

Now the question is do I bother going for UMD now.... perhaps.... perhaps... I have a good CHA for Divine Might... I could pick up the Cartouche, and that with other easily obtainable gear get +11 (cartouch, luck trinket, +4 CHA item, heroism)... but I'd still need 7 points of UMD for a 50% chance. That's alot of skill points.....

Hurm... decisions.... The worst is I should decide with my next lvl, but it will still take me many levels to get it up there even if I dump all my points in....

You can get another +6 exceptional out of a Greensteel accessory along with a pile of SP or +5 with a smaller pile of SP, Concordant Opposition, and +6 Wisdom.

If you're going to TR, you should consider the half-elf and pickup the wizard feat to use arcane wands.

My human "cleric" (Stryde) started with a 14 Charisma for Divine Might, and is able to get his UMD up to 37 or more just with 11 ranks. Takes some good gear, and a bit of swapping, but it's worth it for 10 minute shield wands.

UMD is worth investing skillpoints in.
