    Default Halloween Live Event Preview

Well, since the Live Event starts tonight, good time to start an info thread, perhaps?
I was on earlier, and it kicked off for a short time (mebbe 20 mins) with some of the +names milling about.

Some sneak peak info for those at work:

As you walk through House J toward the Delera's entrance, a tag will come up in gold text as well as the sky turning purple clueing you in to the event being in progress.
Entering Delera's graveyard has some new signposts made of floating jack-o-lanterns that give a run-down on the event rather clearly and humorously.
There is also a fellow that will sell a new DDO store drink to use to regen health/sp (or so it says - not in store yet).

As you move about, all is dark and creepy, and undead of various types will pop from the ground.
They ignore you unless you attack them, then become hostile, and adjust to a level-appropriate range.
Undead knights, a few zombies and Weeps, and mummies seem to be the main faire.
There are some random red names that can pop up as well, including a Liche, a Mummy Prince, and a Vampire Lord (that I saw).
There are a good number of new sound effects that are pretty creepy, and at lvl20 the red names are not to trifle with (at least as a solo-just-reinc'd-wizzie-with-no-toolbars!).

It is a public area, so WoF will not work. Targetting the undead is a PitA as well, sometimes hitting, often not.
I found Meteor Shower to be fast and effective, requiring the click-hop to get contact going.
Arcane Bolt almost never works at all for targetting here.

The rest of the graveyard is adorned with jack-o-lanterns across the mausoleums and gravestones - a very nice atmosphere.

As you kill undead mobs, you may get item drops that can be taken to a collector in the eastern edge in front of the Summoning Chamber.
There is some great gags with the collector, so pretty fun to read (ie - I'm not gonna spoil it)
Turning in items like the following:

will supply you with Motes such as:

for a multitude of themed items like skull grenades, various potions that amplify light and negative damage, and potions that add light and neg damage to weapons and wraps (considered separately).
Also have items that summon shadows and umbral critters of various levels, and a turn in for a cloak item
500 motes gets the base cloak, then each 500 turn in with the cloak will up it to a next tier
(add 4 levels to it), and you have to add some of the items from the red-names (like vampire fangs, liche...bits, dunno, something like that)
I did not have too much time, but the base cloak looks like:

The turn in's are kept on a counter that requires 5,000 turn-ins per event cycle to open the Chamber of summoning
Once open, you get the chance to open it using an Ethereal Key
that is a drop or can be purchased in the DDO store

Once in, it seems you get to fight a 'Spectral Dragon' to get scales for cloak upgrads and maybe other loot drops.

The event stopped shortly after I got in there, so sorry for the sparse screenies.
If I knew, I would have clicked more, but hopefully more can be expanded here.

First Blush: Could be a good time, depending on instance crowding and if they get some of the targetting/activating a bit smoother.
Going to be insane for a poor lvl 6 to try to cut through while a Party is fighting a red-name-spawn....

there is a drought of midnight potion you can buy in the ddoshop that gives each undead you kill in quests drop motes of midnight there is a % chance of them dropping motes not all do it more like 50% of the killed drop motes. the lvl of the character killing and the lvl of undead will affect how many motes it droped.
did a lvl11 quest with my lvl14 and the enemies dropped max 3 motes, and 3 was rare
did it hard lvl12 and the enemies dropped up to 5 motes when they died
did it elite lvl13 and they dropped up to 7 motes this was rare, suspect it maxes out at 8 motes from killing same lvl or higher lvl then yourself.

if the midnight potion is correctly priced you can lvl same time as gather motes at good pace this might be a winner

If i haven't responded to your post, it doesn't necessarily mean that i don't have counter-arguments, it might simply mean that i don't want to keep feeding the trolls.
