And for what it's worth OP...I am an esperienced Rogue - AC does not matter at end game, not one single bit, if you can't get into the 60's unbuffed. GH (level 14ish) requires AC in the low to mid 40s iirc.

If you can't get your AC that high - don't even worry about it. I never wear armor past level 8-12.
60 = 0 at high level content. Anything less than 70 in amrath is useless. 70 there is okish, but you will still get hit a lot. I wouldn't care about AC on a pure rogue, not that it's impossible, but it's very very hard.

Is deathblock worth substituting +5 Res? Or should I try to get that on a different piece of equipment?
You can always use the silver flame necklace. DT also allows you to take deathblock in the Eldritch rune if you prefer.

I think res+5 is important due to having low fort/will saves. The deathblock will not protect you from hold person or disintegrate for example and those are quite deadly!
There are several options though. I see it like a puzzle and the pieces are here and here, for example.

Usually have the AAA necklace and NNN gloves and change to the silver flame necklace when fighting beholders.

I completely agree. I never worry about AC past level 10ish.
