Default A question about shintao monk...

So now shintao monk gets a III prestige level, great - but 1 thing...
Not he gets a new strike which is the same thing as stunning fist, means we dont need stunning fist anymore... So why the heck stunning fist is still a pere for shintao monk?
Did I see false? or am i the only one who have noticed? or cared?

While you could use the Shintao stun to replace Stunning Fist, they are on different cooldowns and have different ki costs. Generally, it will probably be better to use Stunning Fist unless you need to stun from a distance.

That, and why shouldn't it be a pre-req if they are similar abilities? To me, that just strengthens the argument for it being a pre-req.

I agree with you. Cant learn how to throw a stun till you know how to hand one out.

Not to mention that Shintao get Kukan-Do at lvl 18 and you can get Stunning fist much, much earlier. I can easily see many situations when you will want to use both. Abundant Step into a group, Kukan-Do the caster from range, Stunning fist the closest bad guy, Tomb of Jade on another, Curse of Jade (or whatever it is called, the lvl 12 power that jades on a crit) and then go nuts with smite and jade strike. As long as you have the ki you can tear stuff up.

keep in mind stunning fist is a fort save, based on Wisdom mod.

and Kukan-do is a Will save , based on Cha mod

Kukan-do should be a Will save based stun that uses charisma as the relevant ability score (as it does in the original source material). Effects that improve stun DC's should, however, function on it.
    so this
Abundant Step into a group, Kukan-Do the caster from range, Stunning fist the closest bad guy
is probably backwards of the way I'd use it. I'd kukan-do the nearest warrior to the caster (rules of thumb a weak will save) then abundant step in to the caster(rule of thumb weak fort save) and stunning fist.
