Default Too much of a good thing??

This will really only concern the Aussies out there.

But OMG with the AFL Grand Final on the weekend. Talk about a real stemwinder. I really thought the Saints had them at the last minute there. The only problem with there being a replay is that I don't think I can handle that much food and Alcohol two weeks in a row!

    Proud to be an Aussie!!!

I actually followed AFL for a few years back in the 1980s.

My wife and I bought a house in an area without cable and poined up about $4000 for a satellite dish. A Canadian sports network broadcast the AFL game of the week and a highlights show and I got hooked on the sport. Those guys are ath-a-letes, no doubt about it. Since the game moves at a pace closer to soccer than American football, I couldn't see the 300+ pounders that are 'typical' of NFL linemen being able to handle the pace of the game, much less be able to actually perform the kicks, handballs, etc. that the AFLers do.

Leave it to you Aussies to take soccer and American football, put 'em in a blender, hit puree and out comes a totally different and highly entertaining sport.

The bottle shop owners will be rubbing their hands together. In the first few minutes I thought Collingwood had them on toast and I was tempted to turn the TV off. Glad I left it on now.

I think most of Australia has 2 teams. Theirs and whoever is playing Collingwood.

Am I the only one who thinks that a replay is anti-climatic?
In case you didn't already notice, my posts that end with must NEVER EVER, under any circumstances, be taken seriously.

I can see both sides. One side you have tradition, the other you have 2 teams that belted the hell out of each other and deserved a result.

After Didak kicked that first Goal on the Boundry and Thomas with that Wobbly old, can't even call it a torp, I thought Collingwood's Luck would be with them. I'm a Blues Man so naturally Hate collingwood, and was glad to see the Saints pull it back.

The only problem with the replay is that I don't think I can eat and drink that much two weeks in a row.
And yes, the Bottle shops will be loving it. Massive weekend coming, AFL & NRL Grand Finals on. I'm not going to cope!! And then of course the weekend after is Bathurst I think.

I see both sides too. But collingwood got off lucky I think. If there was extra time, Saints would have won. Nick Maxwell admitted that too so I think the Pies will be happy to try to have another crack. Watching the last 10 minutes of the game, I don't think either team was really up for another 10-15 minutes. The way I see it, what happens after ten minutes if its still a draw, they go again? then again after 10 it still drawn. how long can they draw it out? It would literally kill the players to have to go again for another half hour. They were stuffed after 4 Quarters.

@Lord - It's good to see our little sport getting around the world. The pace has actually picked up now to what it used to be in the 80's. Very fast paced game now. On our new free to air sports channel they broadcast 3 NFL games a week, which i Really enjoy watching, especially when the Cowboys or Cardinals are playing.
