    Default Can't update using the Lamannia dndlauncher

    Hello...
    I'm having some difficulties with the Lamannia launcher...
    I've uninstalled and reinstalled... I've gone over the folders it created and renamed them... I've done all I can think of...
    I'm using Windows XP Professional service pack 3, everything is fully updated...

    The error I get is:

    "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." And the details window displays the following:

    System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    at com.turbine.launcher.UserControls.InstallFileInfo. .ctor(XmlNode fileNode)
    at com.turbine.launcher.UserControls.PrereqInstallCon trol.GetInstallFiles(String url)

    I also get a windows popup that says:

    Resource String Not Found
    Resource string for token "InstallLabel.Text" could not be found.

    I'm coming across this same error on a new Win 7 machine. Never had problems before.


    Downloaded twice and reinstalled 3 times. I'm going to try disabling hi-res textures to see if that helps.

    No luck disabling hi res textures. Still get same error. Was already installing to a seperate directory but tried installing it in a seperate folder off of the root drive. Also no luck.

    This is a known issue with the installer. On XP or Win7 running as administrator, if you ignore the errors the game should patch several files in the background and then restart. Once it restarts most people patch up properly.

    An updated installer is in the works, but not yet available.

    That also didn't work. Thoon wrote that he was going to have another Lamannia build ready for Delera's part 2. Hopefully that will fix whatever is going on here. Never had this problem before with Lamannia.

    Thanks for the heads up Thoon. The first time the game tried to run it was finished and aborted at the errors. All I had to do was run the launcher again. This time you could see it updating behind the messageboxes. It's updating fine now. Thanks again.

    Is the launcher patching even though it presents a message "Updates are available. Click the 'Update' button to proceed." ? Unfortunately in my case (Win 7), the NullReferenceException window is modal, so there is no clicking the Update button. Closing the error popup shuts down the launcher.

    EDIT: Please disregard my earlier message as I am now reading this thread - http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=276000 and I will be trying out some of the suggested method there after I have reinstalled my client. This doesn't mean I have a solution but found a thread where I might get one

    EDIT AGAIN: The method mentioned there where you just restart your client, ignore the message and let it patch then restart it worked.
