Default Pit Demon room from "Into the Deep" bugged?

I ran "Into the Deep" last night for the first time and after finishing the quest (loved the chain so far), I decided to try the demon in the pit optional.

I jumped down into the demon pit along with my cleric hireling and was greeted by the red-named demon boss -- and the worst lag I've ever seen in a one room instance! After I got him down to 1/5 health everything stopped moving and then I get the you've been killed, wanna release button.

There was only the red named guy and an occasional fire reaver that spawns so there wasn't a whole lot going on for combat, so where is the lag problem coming from?

It is all the other players in all the other quests zerging along and pulling massive numbers causing the servers to freak out over the pathing and creating lag. That is why Turbine introduced dungeon alert. Since then lag has virtually disappeared. Clearly by jumping into the pit you tipped the numbers too far and the random spawning algorithm along with the demon pathing combined with the few zerging player groups still on the server to cause your epic fail.

Hireling lag. Try it on Lamania and see if you have the same issue. This would be a perfect test to see if the issue was fixed.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

I've had the same problem every time I've tried to go in there. So much lag in fact that the boss doesn't even walk around, it just stays hunched over and kind of glides around the room instead. I've tried it 4 times now, with varying numbers of hirelings and it's the same thing every time. I also can't seem to finish the final quest with the Drow leader in the camp. He just keeps telling me to go kill the priestess Very frustrating, since I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.
