    Default Half-Elves

    Half-Elves, they have arrived.

I bring these thoughts to you as the guild leader of Legends on Khyber a semi-roleplaying group of players.
I am that guy (player) that enjoys the class or race of a character no matter any logic that another can apply to that build. As an example:

    > Halfing Fighter - Some say this may be one of if not the worst race to play a fighter due to their -2 to racial strength. I play this character because it is a blast and I have even specialized him in quarterstaves. It may be in part due to my player skill and to some degree equipment but not to many other players builds out perform me in a dungeon.
    > Elven Bard - Some say the best race for a bard is human due the feat and enhancement bonuses humans get. I prefer the elf for this for no other reason than roleplaying reasons.
    > I have other examples but I want to get into the half-elf some.

In pen and paper (I played mostly 2.0 and some 3.5) the half-elf for many reasons does not make any sense to play for min/max reasons. However in pen and paper most of my characters have always been either a halfling or a half-elf. Mostly because I enjoy the idea of a half-elf in a roleplaying environment over most of the other races.

Currently I have approxiamately 13 characters of which I will be rerolling and/or TR'ing into a half-elf. My cleric (human), paladin (human), bard (elf - but not sure yet) and maybe one or two others.

I know based on what I have done with all of my characters that they will be competitive in kills, spell casting, etc...

In closing ---- I know that of all of the races the half-elf is more of a generalist in terms of abilities and feats but I think thats were they belong according to D&D 2.0 and ruleset. I think the DDO developers did very well on the half-elves and that they will fall right in where the should in the D&D mindset. I only wish they were added back when the game began.
