Default Good solo quest for a wizard in Gianthold?

Hi, my first warforged wizard just hit level 13 (he is my highest level toon on all servers) and I think it is time to leave the Sands and head to Gianthold. Since I've never been to gianthold, I was wondering which quests are easy to explore solo with an arcane caster (fire/cold specced) and which quests should better be done with a group.

I mostly looking for good xp/time quests, but loot/time is also nice.

For example in the Sands, I liked "Purge the Fallen Shrine" a lot, because it is easy to reach, has a shrine at the entrance (to refill SP), is fast and easy to run because almost all enemys take double damage from cold (Fireshield cold&Sup Freeze Clicky&Emp. Cone of Cold = easy win) and has three nice chests (got a portable hole there).

    Anything comparable in gianthold?

    Cheers,

    Baloran

Everything but Crucible (swim is tough on non-evasion, need a hireling to open close doors in maze), PoP (need hireling to close doors in rooms), and Maze of Madness (tons of traps). Everything else is easily solo'd. Mass suggestion is your freind!

The Gianthold quests are very party oriented. Random traps, big mobs, and lots of HP. Having said that, your best bets for solo are Cabal, Feast or Trial by Fire. Crucible is also a good solo quest once you get to know it a bit. The end bosses are tough, so make sure you save some spell points!

Depending on your skill and play style, you should be able to solo everything except Pop (could be done with a hireling pulling the lever) and The Crucible.

The most comparable to purge the shrine is Trial by Fire. Be warned, GH is a huge step up from the desert.

Trail By Fire. Nothing special, close to teleport point, short, 3 chests (i think), mobs burn just fine and are not immune vs insta kill.

I general Gianthold is very caster friendly. Solid number of shrines, no special immunities, no insane number of HPs or crazy save. Invis to skip lots of trash mobs, charm some, finger some, burn the rest.

What EKKM said. Go for trial by fire. It takes about 3-4 mins to complete and gives good xp (and don't forget you need to kill the first two trolls to finish the quest). Failing that I like foundation of discord pretty much. It takes about the same timeframe, for about the same xp.

You really want walkup quests, since after finishing you can just abandon them and trigger the quest once again.

    Happy leveling!

    Thanks to all who answered.

I will try Mass Suggestion. Any other spells which a highy recommended for some quests (for example I realized the hard way that you should have Disintegrate memorized when you try to solo Wizking...)?

I will stay away from the three mentioned quests (Crucible, PoP, Maze of Madness).

    Cheers

I never though about abandoning a walkup quest to do it again! That's a brilliant idea.

    Kudos to the Lord.

Any of the GH quest are easily soloed (solo=without a hireling of course) especially on WF caster. At that level I like to hit Cabal, Feast, Trial then Crucible ..rinse/repeat.

Also, you dont need a hireling for Crucible but I am not sure on PoP, I might try it later on to be sure.

Not mine, but it's a nice piece of information. Made maraud the mines a very-very-very farming viable quest

For spells (I usually play srocerers, so I'm used to 'utilizing' the same spells over and over):
TBF: Firewall, finger of death, fireball (really, this is just for opening the doors, haste.
This quest is funny, because of the level design pursuing mobs usually stop at well defined points. So fw the two guys in the front, left, run past the spiders, fw the ledge, fall down, run until you get to the turn with the vases, fw, run into the room, left, fw at the dripstone, fb the door, fb the door, burn the general and any other stuff. Right, finger of death the second general, run back, finger of death the third. Run in the room, fall down in the crack (leave a fw upstairs if you feel like), fw the hell out of end boss. Finished

FOD: Firewall, prot from sound (yes, this actually is a place where its useful), haste, invisibility. Basically run until a door, fw everyone who follows you, open the door. For the 3 runes, run until the orange miniboss, fw him and everything else. At the main room ring the gongs, drop a fw under the boss and run around screaming like a girl. Thats it

Tried out PoP and confirmed what I initially suspected: you dont need a hireling there either.

Takes some timing but you can hit the switch and still get through the door. Cheers~ Solo

I strongly advise against this. Sure it saves a little time, but quest rewards in Gianthold very often include major mana pots.

I'd rather spend the extra 60 seconds between quests and get a shot at a pot.

Good point. I am well aware that with abandoning the quest you will forfeit your reward, which means in most cases vendor trash. Didn't think about pots though. On the other hand, major pots cost 25 TP in the store and its not like I'm guzzling these pots like coffee at work :-). So I have to decide which resource is more valuable for me: time or money. I guess it also depends on the quest, as already mentioned farming "Marauding the Mines" in the sands would be much easier since its a very long walkup.

But as I said, you have a good argument here and its worth to think about.

    Cheers
