    Default Launching Lamannia Laments

    I am having a lot of trouble getting Llama to launch... it's just not working.

    I am getting the following error:

    I have reinstalled Llama twice now, and keep getting the same problem. Any help would be very much appreciated. I wanna play a Half-Elf/Orc.

    However, I still can't get the **** thing to work. I followed the advice in the other thread on where to put the new DirectX... but it just won't fly.

    Oh well. Maybe it'll be fixed in Thoon's eventual update.

    Yeah mem same thing going on here if I try to install it to the folder the other thread says I get an error that that file doesn't exist or is not writeable. I made the file not read only and still get this error.

    Curious if anyone who was having these issues has actually been able to repair it.

    Hopefully they get the correct download out soon as this workaround is not working.

    So I have win 7 home premium (64 bit) and I am seeing the same problem. Just checked DirectX version and it is 11. So, I have to use 9 for it to work? That sort of stinks. Also, reinstalling this huge program isn't too good either. Too bad it's like almost 4AM. I guess I'll Install 9 and see.

    Okay so i used the second link(the smaller file) and that seems to have worked (also didn't change DirectX version either... just some files i guess) so problem solved at 4AM w/o having to reinstall.

    What link did you mean? One on the Microsoft download page that you get to by that link in QuantumFX's post? I am trying to fix the same issue and don't wanna try a lengthy download of something that fails to fix it. Could you clarify exactly what you downloaded that worked? I also don't believe I have DX10 or 11 (Vista).

    When I did a search on MS's website the Feb 2010 link was the newest DX I could find. I found LordPiglet’s post a few minutes later and decided that it would probably be a better download. It looks like it solved Jacket’s issue as well.

    DX10 is part of Vista (The Areo interface uses it.) but I don’t know if Vista auto installs DX11 from the Windows Update site. (I use 7 because Vista’s updater is so **** annoying.) The XP command for pulling up your DX version info is Run command -> dxdiag I *think* that command still works in Vista/7.

    So after getting in I can't seem to use the DX 10 and 11 options in advance graphics and logging into the regular game client i can't use the the DX10 options there either. Since I like the dynamic shadows.. this is something of an issue but I suppose I can figure something out later.

    But it seems to have killed my DX 10 support in the regular client while still remaining at 11 (according to dxdiag.exe) and I can't use the 10 or 11 effects in the preview client. I'm hunting around for a solution, tried updating my video card drivers and whatever windows update said to get ( i didn't really look) but no luck so far.

    This link (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en) should get you the files that are needed.

    We are working to get the Launcher to automagically deliver the appropriate files. I'll let you know as soon as we get that deployed. I can't give you an exact time, but I am standing at a certain persons desk right now waiting for them to arrive.

    After much frustration and multiple restarts i have managed to convince both the regular and preview Clients that I can indeed use the DX 10 niceties. Can't use DX11 but my card doesn't support it(/cry) either so I think it's okay now.

    Also, Thoon way to be up at the crack of dawn! You're a trooper!

    Got my Llama working - but it was some Google digging that helped me out... and I forgot to take note of the site that finally got me up n running.
