GOG.Com is bringing back Baldurs Gate!

Instead of being dead, GOG.com went down to launch its newly revamped web site. In celebration of the new site, and the two year anniversary:

GOG.com has partnered with Hasbro and Atari to bring back the first Baldurs Gate and its expansion, Tales of the Sword Coast!

I have wanted to play this game for a while, and more things are promised ( I am hoping for System Shock and Syndicate personally). While I dont miss the Forgotten Realms, its hard to pass up a true Good old Game.

And here I was worried that I wouldn't be able to download my old stuff anymore... it's almost like unopened christmas gifts with the next 5 they're teasing us with. Hard to top Torment though!

A couple weeks ago they put up Age of Wonders too. Much cheaper than $60 on ebay

I am loving the chance to pick up the D&D titles I never had a computer good enough to play (at the time). Well, or the $50.00 to invest in each one.

If they release the Syndicate or the System Shock titles, I may not have time to play any more DDO this year, lol.

LoL, I still have my original copies of all the Baldur's Gate titles, Planescape:Torment, Syndicate, Arcanum, Fallout, Mechwarrior. All the real classics I just can't through away.

Personally I'd love to see Wasteland re-released and updated to deal with today's processors same with the old school D&D games like Pool of Radiance. You just can't beat 16-bit colour graphics!

I USED to have my original copies, but while I was on 365 day orders, my roommate moved out, put all of my stuff in storage, and didnt tell me. When I got back 6 months later all I owned was a car I got out of impound before they claimed salvage title and the stuff I took with me on the orders.

On the plus side, getting the title from GOG.com means I can get a version that works on a modern PC. I hadn't been able to get my copy of Syndicate or Syndicate Wars to play sound, since DOSBOX hadnt been written before I lost the titles.

System Shock to this day is in my opinion the best single player FPS ever made (remember the elevator incident? With 'girl from Iponema' playing?). Syndicate was a ton of fun for its time as well. Would love to see them just update the graphics and smooth them out a bit, then release them instead of trying for whole new builds.

Cool, thanks for the link - already got Fallout from a similar website, but picked up Baldur's Gate, Riven (read the book but never played the game somehow) and Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura for a neat $20.

Bought NWN 2 shortly after starting DDO, and was disappointed by the excessive amount of cutscenes. Plus I enjoy the action-game control style of DDO, to which NWN2's control scheme does not compare favourably.

I'm still looking to pick up Neverwinter Nights 1 (my original copy is on another continent...still have the box though :s)

I was a big Baldur's Gate fan, so this is cool to see. I actually bought Planescape:Torment off of eBay and had barely started playing it last fall when I learned about DDO and F2P. DDO won out and I've been playing it ever since and Planescape is still waiting for my return. I only have so much time!

Actually, the computer game version was converted to 3.5. The original game was buggy as hell, but the modding community Co8 managed to fix it, improve it and put some deleted content back into the game. Hopefully this new release is compatable with the mods.

+1 for turning me onto this website. I work offshore and like to load up on some older games for the downtime. This is a goldmine of gaming fun. Looks like I'll be loading down the hard drive when I get home.

The true Grandfather of Dungeon crawls is "The Dungeon Master" the first 3d roleplaying game on the computer 1985

Its one of my favorite games of all Time and its one of the first games into the Hall of fame for computer games.

One of the hardest of the old RPGs is " Wizardry VII: Crusaders of the Dark Savant" 1992

As a series Wizardry was one of the hardest to complete. my favorite was "Bane of the cosmic Forge" still play form time to time

I played the original NWN, but thought the story was garbage & couldn't even finish it due to bad design for the last chapter.

Is the diamond one much better & worth it for the extra campaigns and fan made stuff?
