The new wraps are a combination of effects that do not go together well. Also, the effects are weak even when looked at individually. If it was a recipe, would you put Path of Guarding Stone, stun +6, or Stone Prison on your wraps over an icy burst recipe? I would not.

-If it lives long enough to make stunning worth the trouble, you are going to run +10 stunners, and the +4 enhancement bonus won't matter much because stunned mobs melt shortly after being stunned. You should not be having to-hit difficulties on a monk at level 10.
-Stone Prison is fail because 5% chance of DC 17 is fail on anything past harbor. Sadly, in harbor everything dies in a few hits anyway, which further reduces the usefulness of Stone Prison.
-Path of the Guarding Stone is... interesting, but not useful. Switching to a vastly inferior stance for a low chance of a Stoneskin proc does not seem useful for anything but turtle blocking, which does not work that well without a shield to block with. Also, Stoneskin does not stack with the DR granted by earth stance, so reduce the usefulness of it even more when factoring in that 2/4/6/8 (earth 1/2/3/4) of that temporary DR would already be on the monk anyway 100% of the time when in stance.

At level (10 for these wraps), I would rather use a +3 elemental/puregood wrap on a monk and be +7 damage. I never bother to stun mobs on my monk until I hit Gianthold, and even then usually not until elites (at which point i would use nothing lower than +10 stunning, even if it was a plain +1).

oh is it only for the strike that triggered? I was thinking on process gives temp stone skin like spell/pot with duration.

anyone tested yet? is it only counted for that strike or is it a lasting effect like the spell?

Might just be random luck, but a solo run of Devil Assault on Hard netted me a +3 Flametouched Iron Morningstar of Evil Outsider Bane, ML 10.

    Didn't see anything named though.

It's a lasting effect, but the duration of stoneskin is unimportant because it will be removed by damage before it gets a chance to expire.

You are apparently on heavily twinked characters. Not everyone has those big advantages, and unfortunately the game design does a limited job at constraining gear progression.

As an example, I tested untwinked gear progression, and at level 16 still had nothing better than +2 stunner 4.

I could look on the AH on Cannith at this very moment and see no less than 10 or more stun+10 wraps for low buyouts.
A plain set of +3/4 elemental or pure good wraps is still better than these, which is by no means fancy twink gear.
At level 10 mobs do not live long enough to constantly replenish the Ki necessary to stun mobs as part of your main fighting strategy.

We can agree to disagree and let the thread continue to be about the new items.

    Default Snakeskin vest ***?????

Am I the only one thinking the Snakeskin vest is a completely ridiculous item?

I mean, with the stats on it its obviously meant for rogues. But it is a medium armour, so you loose evasion while wearing it.......

yes but with each successive strike, when stone skinned, there should be a chance of processing again. but if it say a dr10 with 100 point total absorption (Sskin spell is 10 per caster level correct?).
so yeah not worth switching stance unless you are really high AC build and not getting hit much even then the max duration isn't likely to be infringed upon. plus the damage lost while switching stance would be a shame.
    =====

A little bump to the earth build, with the jiz bracers, mountain + these wraps though might only need one more little push to make mountain at least a situationally useful stance rather than the never-a-good-idea it is now.

That is incorrect. The current number of ML 8-10 Stunning+10 handwraps on the Cannith AH is zero. The ML 12 list has three Handwraps with Stunning+10, with the cheapest buyout at 100,000 plat, which is several times the total wealth an untwinked monk accumulates by level 10.

That is incorrect. An untwinked monk needs the attack bonus to hit and won't want +1 stunner10. An untwinked monk does not do enough damage to forgo stunning in pre-gianthold places like desert.

This information is far from the truth. Whirlwind has a dc 17 knockdown effect and it works well into gianthold. Maybe not all the time but it does go off. Couple the stone prison effect with the stunning effect on the handwraps and you are probably pretty close to the old 5% chance that weighted handwraps use to have.

My halfer rogue/monk drops into mountain stance for every single raid boss fight. The extra HP and DR make what's basically a rogue build a bit less squishy.
Free stoenskin cast randomly during boss fights? Yes please.
Unfortunately this is the only time that he ever enters earth stance, and since these wraps don't break DR it still means they're useless for these situations.
On a Shin light monk with a ToD ring, however....

Nah, not even then. In a good group you shouldn't have to worry about the stoneskin, and in a bad group they'll need the extra DPS that basically any other set of wraps would give.
    Nevermind that idea.

Whoops, forgot to take a screenshot before I converted it.

But to make it up to you, here's proof that store-only items are dropping in chests:

I'd have to say this is a pretty good item on it's own. Melees generally find the cloak slot lacking and this is a nice item there. +7 con is only available on a few items and they are hard to fit in due to other sets. A green slot is really nice as you could heavy fort it and with the potential +20 hp gained from the extra con totally replace a minos helm instead of using a epic moron belt and lose out on a tod set. Or if you have epic bracers of claw put your toughness here for a +20 hp gain and a free helm slot.

Set bonus seems nice but depends on the other items usefulness and the slots they use. Three items is a lot to allocate. 5 is too many in my opinion.

What was the original item stats?

    No.

That cloak seems to fit firmly in the realm of being an epic item. Not a must have for most, but would work wonderfully on some builds and includes a unique combination of abilities.

I'm hoping the rest are more like this and less like the epics from Red Fens.
